Since I have yet to place a large house myself, I am not sure of the physical size of the "footprint". Basically, I want to upgrade from a medium to a large house(for display purposes). What I am wondering is, if I redeed my medium, will a large fit right in that same spot?

I have a location for my shop that I really like, and if that large will not fit, I wont upgrade.

If it will fit, are there any little things I should know about.. ie, is the large more picky when it comes to placement for hills and such?

If I redeed after messing with my 6 vendors, and my large wont fit in the same location, I am gonna be building myself a bulldozer... and my neighbors better look out!

Suggestion I can make to get an idea in size.... got to an area that has the large you want and your current medium.... pull up your overhead map. you'll see the footprints of all the items there on the screen and you can get a pretty good idea of how much additional space you'll need although I don't think its dramatic.

Can't answer any of the other placement questions... i'm an independent architect so i'm lucky to even have a house of my own.... lol

For generics and corellian houses, mediums and smalls have a 4x3 footprint (arranged so the house takes up about a 2x3 area on one side) and take up 2 lots, and larges have a 5x7 footprint (narrowest front to back) and take up 6 lots. Larges are *generally* less restrictive about where they can go. I've done a lot of mapping of where the two house types can go in my area, and larges can generally fit at least one more space further onto a moderately rising or dipping slope than mediums or smalls can. The most extreme case I have here is where a large house can be built with one corner on an area buildable to mediums and the rest sticking out 4x5 into an area where no mediums can be built.

You really have to test things out yourself to see where things will fit, sadly. I understand the whys and wherefores, but it makes city planning, well, very very complicated.

And a disclaimer: I've had it suggested to me that the other six-lot larges and two-lot mediums and smalls have similar footprints and slope requirements, and that the one-lot small from Naboo has a smaller footprint. BUT, I have not tested this. Since non-generic/corellian styles tend to take up more of their footprint than the generic/corellian styles, it's possible that they have more restrictive terrain needs. I'm hoping not to have a rude awakening after the next publish when Naboo houses become available for placement on Dantooine.
