Thread: DOH! Harvester maintenance
Thanks to lag and a sticky keyboard, i deposited 180000 instead of 1800 maintenance into a harvester.
Ouch.
Borrowed lot. Personal Mineral. Person is rarely on.
/cry. Ah well.
Hrmm.. wonder what the chnces are of them making you able to retrieve money from a harvester pool, like you can vendors?
I'd ticket it, but I doubt they'd do anything but point and laugh.
Which I'm bracing for inthe replies below.
*cringe*
I've had fumblefingers myself and put in an extra zero of power or maintenance more than once. It would be nice if they let you add or subtrace power and maintenance. They implmented the dialog boxes with the slidey thing so it seems like you ought to be able to do so. I don't know whats stopping them except possibly that there database just doesn't facilitate it.
I can tell you there is ZERO chance of a CSR giving your money back. Thankfully money and power stay in the harvester when you redeed.
Seriously, don't feel bad about this. Many is the time when I accidentally deposited 20,000 credits or power into a small harvester. This was before harvester re-deeding carries over the maintenance. So I ended up running that harvester a while, well after the original resource shifted.
Tag it. Its very likely that CSR could pop in, see the problem, and trade that harvester deed for a fresh new one and give you the cash back.
It really would be nice to have 10k limits on the amount of power/energy you can add in any one action. I'm scared of doing the same thing myself. Hitting 2 extra zeros isn't out of the realm of possibilities for me to do when I'm up LATE at night servicing my harvesters.

I was wondering about the borrowed lot deal. I assume that you get someone who is not using all of their lots to place a harvestor deed you give them on a spot you desginate and then they give you admin/hopper rights to it. Is this the scenario?
But if it needs to be moved, not just have the resource changed to something else, then the only person who can pick it up and re-place it is the person you are borrowing the lot from?
I am asking because I have been thinking about trying to find someone an another server, I am currently on Valcyn, to do a secondary charactor lot swap with, but it sounds like it would be more advantageous as extra storage rather than extra harvestors seeing as you would not really need to move a house.
Has SOE spoken out on the lot swap issue? Is it an offense?
Lot swopping and the /transferstructure command work as you'd hope. Just be sure to check the admin rights are set up correctlybefore you move on. Add 1cr of maintenance, 1cr of power and empty the hopper after the swop - if all that works you're home and dry. ![]()
The BIG downside is the fact that only theharvester "owner" - ie, the person you transferred it to after you placed it - can then redeed it unless you transfer back. It's not a problem most of the time but occasionally it can be a real headache.
I can live with harvesters stuck on a second-rate spot - they're still bringing in something, at least -but I currently havea pair offusions burning money on a hopelessTWO per cent mineral source.
By the time I finallyget round to arranging for these things to be lifted, I'll have mined about 500 units of the world's most expensive power!

I feel your pain. I have done the exact same thing with both power and money on little personal harvesters no less! I no longer use the radial menus to add maintenance or power

works so much better, and the lag is minimal since the only gui element involved is the chat input bar, which is usually lag free for me.
On the up side... that would be one super selling point if you ever decide to sell the deed. Advertise it as having 3 months worth of maintenance already paid hehe.
I just did something similar. Put 71000 credits into a wind mill. Emailed a CSR and his response was "I terribly sorry but there's now way to remove credits from a harvestor."
Wonderful, you can remove maintenance but from a vendor but no let's not code it for harvestors.
But, at least the CSR is *sorry*.
Use it for sampling ... Get lot owner to redeed and give it to you - then just walk around - plop it down - take a good look see at ALL the resources - then move on ![]()
