Thread: Rheet your answer confused me
I don’t want to hijack the morale thread so I thought I would bring this over here.
I agree with everything you said about liking the profession.
"Ore that never gets above 60% in concentration and takes trips to every city on the planet to find. New ore means running for 4-5 hours straight running down a vein that takes thousands of meters to develop."
Yeah, well that is part of the architect game, if you did always find higher percentages that means that every architect would make even more things that last forever and continuing to depress the economy on the supply side, that wish is a 2 edged sword.
"No respect for our product. People will spend 40k for a top end rifle but won't spend 65k for a medium house that has no decay. And if it did, our products take way to many resources to mass produce to replace things constantly."
The reason they have no respect for it is once they buy it, they never have to again, price is controlled by demand for the product vs supply. No one ( in any market ) has much respect for something that there is a lot of supply for but no demand, that feeling is perfectly normal.
"People who sell for to little because they don't care if it hurts others in it for the long run."
As you well know it has to do with survival, when supply outstrip demand this is as predictable as skunks not smelling very good. Prices will raise again when there is a demand for our product, but as long as 20 architects try to sell to one customer, that customer will buy form the lowest priced seller. To fix that we need more demand, not more supply as experimentation gave us.
"House for storage and structure factory ='s almost half our lots."
Ok I agree
"Losing 20k or more on a critical fail on a final combine. This is "un-fun" hear that Thunderheart"
Personally I think final combines critical failures should only loose resources and not components for ALL professions. But everyone is in the same boat. ( and no I don’t buy the argument about our using more resources, that is true but we also do fewer final combines too )
"Critical failing on experimentation making my harvester pretty unsellable."
That is a state of mind, every weapon smith and armor smith feels exactly the same way. For you experimentation has not added variety, it only made it so EVERY unit has to be at the highest end, I don’t feel that way at all, I often use harvesters that are not quite top notch. But I am willing to accept that there is more than one level of harvester.
If I am not mistaken, my response was to a poll archangel asked. I don't remember he or I saying, "hey come agree or disagree with the responces" It's not for you to agree or disagree, its for SOE.
There is no right or wrong answer. You must understand that not everyone feels like you do nor should they. No one cares what you think of their posts, although you seem to get your jollies of posting in that manner.

Why not, you post irrelevantlyin every other thread.
Dalyn makes very good points. The whole point of expirementation is the randomness in it. You roll the dice. There will be times that you're going to get the short end of the stick. It's the price you pay for taking that chance.
I disagree where on final combine - all parts should get ganked. Why just the resources? Because it's a sore spot to lose that hard work. What's it matter if it was a successfully made factory sub-assembly? If I put an alternator (sub-assembly) in a automobile (final combine) and the thing blows up on me - the alternator is gone, not just the gas I put in it.
If it was only reward and no risk - that would be "un fun".
BetaZoob,
I respect your point of view... I disagree, but I do see where you are coming from, and your point has merit.
However If I build a car, and the car wont run, that does not mean that the carburetor I used is necessarily bad.
What I am trying to get at is to level the playing field a bit. When an architect on a final combine looses days worth of harvesting it is not the same as when some other class onlylooses only minutes of harvested resources.
I am not actually totally opposed to keeping it the way it is, and I amvery muchagainst Architects getting special privileges in respect to critical failures. But I thought that perhaps if when you had a critical failure you lost the resources but the components you used were returned to your pack, it would be something we might get other classes to agree with us about.
But it was just an idea ( and not my idea, I read it here somewhere a long time ago )
Tued, Master Builder
As I said, I am not totally opposed to keeping that the way it is, I was only trying to mention one change that I could support if people were that upset about critical failures. Some people are, some people think it is the most important problem in the architect class ( I am not one of them )
I wont support architects being given special privileges about critical failures ( I cant get behind that )
This is one way of reducing the pain of it that I could support if they decided to do it because they could roll it out across all classes and it would benefit all crafters, not just architects.
But to be honest this is not a very important issue to me. They can leave it like it.
like it is.
Gimmie an edit button please, that is a bigger issue!!!
