Thread: Serious bug with maintenance!
Ok I understand the old 11 heavy extraction harvs have had their maintenance increased because of the higher extraction rate. So I went to redeed an 11 BER heavy harvester today and guess what. The maintenace before I destroyed the structure was (90+32)/hr but after redeeded it is not (90+32+32)/hr. There appears to be a trend here. I have to verify whether it is actually using the higher maintenance of adding 32 every single time you redeed or its just a display problem. Btw the redeed costs went up as well by 30% to 6100 from 4500. In other words the (90 + 32) / 2 * 10 which means that if i redeed this one again it will cost (90 +32 + 32) / 2 * 10, basically going up by 1600 every time you redeed it. This has to be hotfixed ASAP. This heavy is not costing me 3500 a day cause its 155 an hour now. Next time i will just deed a harvestor that was not deeded at the time of the patch. I will reply in half hour to let you all know whether it is just a display problem or a real problem.
So if I understand correctly:
Currently on live harvesters get a +8 to maintenance costs per extraction unit over 7.
Harvesters that existed pre-patch were not affected by that right away. You're saying the retro-active change (the change that makes old harvesters the same as new ones) is repeatedly re-applying itself each time you re-deed?
Wonderful....
I have about 55 of these 11-rate heavies. As if I wasn't screwed enough introduction of 13-rate heavies (and worse yet...the 10-rate mediums), nowI'llhave exponential maintenance rates if I redeed the 28 that I currently have deployed.
This extra maintenance is stupid in the first place. And as for extraction rates--the pre-patch experimented rates (11 & 8) were already too high before the patch...now they are just astronomical.
This needs really needs to be addressed...and fast. If we start getting a million of these new harvesters out on the market, we'll never be able to go back again. It was just a few weeks ago that the devs weren't sure they wanted increased extraction rates at all. Now mediums are 2.5x as effective as before. That is just nuts!!!
Actually all my harvesters that were currently planted when they patched had their maintanence updated to the new wacky numbers.. so yea, everything increased.
So don't worry about re-deeding, your already paying the higher rate.
This gives me an idea!
If it is possible to raise the amount of maintence cost upon each redeed (even if it's a bug) - would it be possible to use this as 'item decay' for Architects?
Tone it down a bit, tada - architectual decay. Without 'destroying' the item. It will hit the 'power' gamer the hardest, it will add to the 'game' of mining (do i place this expensive harv, or buy a new one?), and it makes sense (it costs more to maintain 'old' equiptment).

This happened to me as well, I redeeded 8 heavy after the patch and put them down again and they are 90+32+32 maint now. This needs to be fixed ASAP. thanks

FWIW, threads get much more visibility in the profession forums than they do in discussion - as far as the people who matter (devs) go, anyway. ![]()

Confirmed by myself as well. Not sure if it is adding at each redeed, but I had some 10 BER deeds prepatch that I placed and the maint is now 138. Other harvesters that were placed when the patch came out are at 114 as they should.
90+(2(8*3))=138
and the status of the harvester shows 114 (138) so the penalty got added in there twice. I don't have the money to continually redeed these to see if it will go up from 138 as the redeed cost increases also with a higher BER!
