It wouldbe VERY cool if there was a generic of each item... a steel, ore, iron, yada yada yada...and you could take all your scraps of said source and melt it together to form a generic version...It would give a use for all those stacks that get too small to use...I wouldn'tcare if it was crap stats either...it would be better if it was an average of the stuff your melting but that would introduce too many new items and increase DB load...so we would probably end up with a planet wide generic item for each type...

I don't know if this has been mentioned before....or not.

That is an awesome idea. I have so many 40-50 ressource piles that I can't get rid of. It would be nice to melt them all together into a 100 across the board ressource (or even 0s where it ressource quality doesnt matter).

Ill suggest that. I know SMELTING (to improve the ressources) was being discussed, but this is a very valid idea. Maybe make it a surveying skill or something.

cool, glad you like the idea this idea while introducing new items into the game would reduce the amount of items people are storing! which is important...

If you hear anything back about this idea let me know

Perhaps getting developers to fix the plethora of existing bugs might be a better use of their time. Its very hard for them to implement anything that isn't buggy apparently. For example:

  1. Harvesters are charging too much maintanance. I 13 BER heavy is costing 154 cr/hr instead of 122.

  2. Can't use resources while crafting that are in the backpack (says invalid resource).

  3. Can't use crates from inside input hopper of crafting station. When clicked it says 'invalid resource'.

  4. Im sure there are more.

If I went to a car garage and asked them to fix my car and they weren't able to do it. I don't think I'd ask them to make any improvements on it. Sorry to sound so ticked off, its just that these bugs are so pathetic.

FWIW my heavy minerals are using way too much POWER. I had 4k in all of them yesterday, today (around 28 hours later) I have a 300 power deficit.

It doesn't show as deficit, but it sure keeps running right now long after the power runs out. I just added 4k of power to a harvester & ended up with only 500 power in reserve. Which actually in theory is great...noo worries about missing a day checking them!

Also, I like the idea of being able to smelt our scraps. Maybe even make it available for practice mode only. I just hate destroying little bits here & there because they can't be used.

I've been a proponent for /smelting or /recycling since the begining. It is extremely important that we have a way to remove items from the database, especially non decayable items such as structures.

Just a heads up on power, watch the PE number. If it is high, (about 800 +) you get a energy bonus. That means when you put 1000 high PE energy in a harvester, it will read like you added 3000 or something (dont know the actual breakdown)

If you have low PE power, then you get a penalty, for example, 1000 units of low PE power would have like 500 units of actual power.

How about a new structure, craftable at Factories I or II, Recycling Station? Able to recycle many of the same type of basic metals or ores (ferrous, non-ferrous, etc) into Unknown types at 100 stats? The original idea was great, hopefully they can implement and expound upon it to help us out and lower DB storage space at the same time.
