Arch, unlike most other crafting professions isn't one you can just go buy a few million resources off some vendor and start up selling product competitive w/ other people. Arch would wiz through that few million in nothing flat and you'd be stuck w/ an empty vendor and annoyed customers.

Being an arch means one of two things; either you've got huge harvester farms pumping out millions in resources very cheap or you've got the bank account to go buyout most resource vendors that sell cheap grind resources, and buyout regularly. That's how the bigger dealers do it, cause havesters and buildings require tons and tons of resources. It's a bulk business, and as cheap as we sell them, you have to sell in bulk to make some decent change.

There's also the more fun experiences of decorating and furniture, but those I don't think will get you as much money. You'd have to get different prespectives to figure out where you wanna be I guess. It will also depend on how much competition you've got on your server and what going rate for stuff is. I myself just sell harvesters and most recently got into crafting stations. One takes every grind resource I can find, other takes every high priced elite resource I can find. Together I managed 164M in sales in July. That's sales, not profit. I'm also selling heavies at 75k/ea now so my profit margin ain't too great anymore either.

So from my prespective I've got some really cheap grind resources I have to mine/buy in massive bulk quantities only to grind through my 8 factories and resell in deed form in bulk quantities at still a cheap price, and also buy up high end resources (20-100cpu) that are hard to find, but ends up turning a really nice profit for me.

My adivce in the end is find something you like/enjoy, and if it happens to make money all the better. It's a game, you should be enjoying it, not working it. =)

From what i can get from my (limited) experiance with architect its more about what you can do with it rather than selling to make huge profits. So bascialy be creative, try to use architect stuff in new ways or think of a new way of advertising it and making your furniture/houses/harvs more interresting (ie naming it differently or making thinkings like themed packs).

Also try supplementing it with something else, like home decorator or group up with a bunch of other crafters and make a 1-stop mall that'll get more custom then you would by yourself.

The best advise I can think of is just be creative

the main benefits to arch in my opinion is the fact that for most of your stuff the resources do not matter. its easy to make a decent living cranking out furniture, houses and stuff. Harvestors require a bit more specialized resources, but really not that bad. Crafting stations are VERY difficult to make very hi quality as far as resources.

If you want hi return on your investment, arch is not for you. WS and AS make 30 cpu for minerals used in their stuff on their junk, architects make about 6 cpu on hi end stuff, and arch stuff uses many more resources than most other proffs (except for SW)

Huh. I must be doing something wrong. I started with a bank account so large that moving the 2 personal harvs took more credits than I had in the bank most days, and having a macro harvest while I watched the boob tube was the best way to get material to build houses with.

Currently I have 1 medium house, 1 factory, 5 heavy harvs, and buy maybe 5% of my resources (ie when I run out of copper for generator turbines and need some cause I'm almost out of houses).

Income last week was a bit under 2 million credits.

Why do people pay to play a MMORPG but not want to interact with other people?
Why, SOELA, why? Did the entire management join a cult, and at the same time perform home lobotomies?

Making "a lot" of money as an architect includes a ton of different variables. way too many to list in a single forum thread. I agree with the being creative part above. There are many many many different ways to make money as an architect. And you will need to find the particular method to use according to the vast number of circumstances on your server, and what you are most attuned to. Finding this out will only come through experience. I guess each of us responding can only give you advise on what has worked for us. But never feel limited to these as a limit to your choices. You may very well figure out a new marketing scheme that yields you like 100 million profit weekly, and blows all the rest of us away...

But to more directly answer your question, yes architects CAN make good money...depending......

I mistyped I guess. What I meant was dealing in huge volume to make the real high end money requires big operation or big bank account. Meant to impress that a starting arch shouldn't expect to bring in big money right off the bat. Took me around a year to get enough customers and resources going through to have steady business.

I guess what I should have said is to make money, in anything really, takes an investment of either time(hard work) or money. Money can make you money but so can putting in hard work. Also not saying the "little guy" (those w/o the big bank or big operation) can't make great money, they can too. They make it w/ more creativity and originality than I am is all.

Which is why I'd actually prefer doing arch the fun way and decorate and sell furniture. Having a "home" in a game of all places would actually be rather satisfying. First house I ever planted I wanted to decorate like a doctor's office (was a doc back then) and had all these ideas. Alas my artistic/creative skills aren't up to par w/ the great talent our home decorators around the galaxies have displayed, so I'll leave that to those that have earned that title. =)

I feel like I dug myself a hole unintentionally and am trying to carefully dig my way out by hopefully explaining what I thought I think I was thinking I meant, but am I instead digging down further instead of out? Should I keep it simple and say the simple truth... arch's can make money but more importantly can have fun, besides w/o us no one would be playing this game at all. =)

Architect takes alot of time to start earning a steady amount of cash. It is not usually a solo profession, meaning you need some help from others or you need another profession to keep you above water when you start.

Well, I agree with the investment part. Took months of cheap bazaar sales, spamming (oh the shame!), odd deals (taking payment in resources or comparable deeds instead of credits) to build up a customer base. Starting capital would have helped a lot!

Yes there is good money in being an architect. I started off as a complete noob, and after grinding my way to the top i currently have 2 dozen heavies pumping away on wall, and other items were quality doesn't matter. Then buy the good stuff if i need to. What i did was check out the bazaar's and do some searches for items on vendors, i'd figured out which items might sell then made some, they usually sold right away. Plus wearing the Master Architect tag over my head has drummed up a few good sales. And most of my customers have emailed weeks laterasking for more factories, harvies, etc cause if you give a guy a good deal and be fast about it he'll always come back. I am not rich by any means, but i have had afew good days selling out my vendor of items and making millions.

Just start off small and work your way up. If you have extra of any resources and you need money you can always sell on a bazaar for at least 2cpu.
