I know that you need tapes of +10 to get 1 extra point of experimentation usually...but does anyone know the maximum? I already have the apron and will get 5 more points soon I hope but ive heard the max is 25 points which could mean an extra exp point.

Ive made some BER12's so far in an research city, but have since bought a 44+ crafting station and a level 15 crafting tool, aswell as some nicer steel which all in all I hope will take me to BER 13, but the extra experimentation would help just in case.

+25 is the cap for all skilltapes and since you only get 1 new experimenting point for each +10 you only need to go to +20 to get the 2 experimentation points.

The last +5 just add to better dice roles I think.

Unless you are not going to MASTER architect then you will not currently need any SEA's to be able to make BER10s , 13s.

The most important thing is resource quality and that is HR,SR and UT stats. You could have a hundered extra exp points and still never make a BER13 unless the resources are good enough.

Just to back up the above statements... Resource quality is =everything=.

I have 10 Expt. points and can make BER13 using just 7 of them.

I buy them for the smple reason that I expect this all to cahnge one day. I cannot believe that the current system for experimenting by architects, which is effectively single line experimentation, will not be changed one day to at least make the alternative exp lines more meaningful. Therefore I buy these as and when I see a good deal and hold them for that glorious day.

(of course I wouldn't advise anybody else on Bria to do the same, that will just drive prices up for me...)

I've given up the need for SEAs for experimentation, and I'm even a wookiee, unable to wear that darn apron.

Right now, with my high quality steel and some Good Abine ore.. the only thing I would use the SEAs for is further hopper expansion (not much 2 points could give) and minimizing crit failures. As it stands now, I can most of the time come back after a crit failure on 2 points being spent.. and even if I end up one less BER, I can sell that or prize/gift it away.

The investment to get those 20 points of Experimentation is too much to get any real benifit from them for me.

Well I havnt managed to get the tapes yet, but with the standard quota of exp points I made my first BER13's yesterday with 2 points to spare.

Cheers all for help.

The extra skill points help to get the hopper size up. On heavies it really isn't noticable. On the BER 10 mediums though, it is helpful. I can get upt to 6500-6900 storage on those if I try hard. When mining the cheap way, that extra storage comes in handy. The other area where this comes in handy is if you crit fail during exp you can sometimes bring things back up to 13. Though a good crafting tool, station and a little port would do you better than skill tapes for. All in all if they fall into your lap, take them, but don't get yourself killed in some cave looking for them. They aren't worth much in this profession.

what are people paying for experimentation tapes these days?

i had someone offer me a +1 CA for 1 million credits, but to me that is ridiculous. they barely give any benefit to use. we all can still only get BER 13s atm. the only thing it helps is hopper size which the average person doesnt even look at.

what are other architects paying for CA on experimentation/assembly.... maybe im just doomed to find my own....?

thanks

I have paid up to 500k per point, but only for tapes that are +3 or higher, I don't buy +1 anymore, it takes too many to get enough difference, IMO 300k is the max you should pay for +1, I have bought these in the past for as little as 50k. That is on Bria, prices vary from server to server.

that was for experimentation, Assembly I would pay a lot less for, 50k max for +1, 100k per point max for the higher ones. But that is just me

I would pay very little. The value is just not there for us at present. As a master Architect you can get your BER maxed, and as an earlier poster said, not many folks care about hoppers.

I can't see a +1 tape being worth 1M. And by 'worth' I mean if you'll get that much return from the investment.

The real market value for tapes is very server dependent. Depends very much on supply and demand.

I've bought +1 tapes for less than 50k and I got an spare apron for 75k. But that was a while ago and on my server and there might have been a glut of supply and no demand. I dunno what points are going for now on my server but it may be more or even less.
