hi all,

this isnt new idea of mine, but still bothers me beside so many other things which still needs a fix.

but i am really sick of it to bring some sorting into my resources and items, that i got to use backpacks :/

we can produce several neat carbinets and lockers, chests etc.

why in gods sake they can at least act like a backpack? i just would prefer to put my resources into lockers and carbinets instead iinto backpack.

this shal be so easy to implement and still would serve the fun factor alot.

no worry i am not in this matter start again to ask for not count against item limit or such (sure this is another big issue but..)

but i realy would like to have a room which actualy looks at least furnitured with chests, lockers etc which serve same purpose then atm the backpacks

what you think Dvince?

such minor change dont even take the devs much time, but improve the game on an easy way.

for our big matter i guess we wait anyways till 2nd or 3rd expansion pack :/

regards

Yeah, I also want this. I would want to go a bit further though.

Chests, Armoires, Bookshelves etc could be designed to hold only those items that befit their purpose.

Put clothing in Armoires, just about anything (except large items like crafting stations or large furniture items, but allow candles lamps etc) in chests, not entirely sure what should be allowed in bookshelves, but maybe things like lamps, candles, pieces of art, anything that realistically fits. Set an item limit on how much can go into each.

THEN count only the 'container' as an item against the item count of the house. It REALLY bugs me that if you drop a container in your house (unlocked, backpack or whatever) EVERYTHING inside counts. These should work in the same way as an equipped backpack, the contents should not count against inventory. A full container takes no more physical space than an empty one.

I know, I know, database blah, blah, blah... I am fed up with hearing that, this is a MMORPG, thousands of people pay their money each month to play the game, SOE can deal with the database issues if they choose to spend some of the millions of dollars they get on solving that issue. Physical size limitations should be what sets the limits for what goes into a house, if they sort out collision with some sensible rules then physical limitations can be used.

And, yes I know about the problems with collision, players getting blocked in by items being placed in front of doors etc, so why not make it possible for a player to temporarily move an item to get past? /shift left 100, the item moves for 10 secs or something and then moves back to where it was, or maybe even get a working /eject from building command? there are plenty of possibilities if SOE can be bothered to work on it.

You seem to assume that the only reason they are not increasing the amount of available storage is database limitations...

Maybe, just maybe, they don't want you to have more storage for other reasons such as balancing gameplay and the economy?

Everyone is saying "I need more stoarge to accomodate my playing style, all these things I want I cant store without more storage space"

Maybe the correct response is "You will not be getting increased storage, you need to adapt your play style to fit in with the rules of the game and one of these rules is a limitation on storage."

I don't have enough room to store everything I use / produce as an Architect/AS... I put crates of items / furniture up for sale on my bulk vendor (for the correct multiples of the price i charge for singles)... If I ran out of room to store everything I need for both professions then maybe I need to drop one of them and sell my resources etc to another player who wants to be one, they can fill my space and both of us get to be successful crafters, with enough storage for our needs.

sorry no.

that wont explain any bit why houses with more then 3 lots dont get 75items/lot.

instead of 1 large ppl set just 3 smalls and got more items.

if they wish not ppl to have more storage then intended its fine but all in all u should be ablew to get taht storage limit then.

right now its

60 inventory

50 backpack

50 droids

1000 for lots (100 for each factory you can place)

what i dont get is why we cant when limited to that amount have it in 1 or 2 houses instead 10 factories or such

to put the record straight, I am not assuming that this is the devs reasoning at all, I put this in merely to try and avoid the numerous responses from other players who turn a thread of this type into an ongoing discussion about the limitations of the database.

I cannot recollect a dev actually coming out and saying that it is database limitations that are the reason for not increasing storage, but I HAVE heard this argument from other players. Since it is players who read and post here (Devs very rarely involve themselves in discussions on the profession forums) I am addressing my comment to members of our profession, I have heard all the arguments about database from them, I don't need to hear it again.

yes this is coincidence hehe.

gives me hope to post again ideas

PS: also suggested several times raising of customisation lifespan hehe and yesterday they did !!!

i am getting my hopes again and even with such minor changes for the devs, its major fun factor raising for us customers

no, it's not coincidence, it is FISH POWER !

I hope we get the contents not against house item count bit as well, then I really think we have a clear improvement.

Let's turn our factories over to containers guys, there is a new market.... now if only they would need replacing after a few weeks

Actually this change isn't that surprising.Here's a quote from 19 answers (6-10-04)

Architect
Right now the only method players have of organizing their items inside their house is using Backpacks.. though this is effective it is not very realistic in the whole emersion aspect. Is there any plans on making already existing furniture have the capacity to have open storage windows. For example can the Chest be able to hold items in it. (note this is not asking to increase storage limits of a house but more or less giving Chest/ armoire/ cabinet type furniture the function to be able to replace backpacks as the only source of organizing items in our houses..)

There are no current plans to change this, but this topic is near and dear to my heart. I would very much like to see chests, armoire or other type of in-game cabinet act as a storage container. While researching the answer to this question, I discovered that all that has to be done is modify their in-game image so that it inherits its functionality from the container. I’m told this isn't hard to do and as a result, I’m checking into when this might possibly be sneaked (or snuck if you prefer ) onto the schedule.
