Ok, we all obviously know that custom player-created paintings will never become a part of regular gameplay, for database and technical resource reasons.

WHAT IF.... given a constraint of format (1024X1240 jpeg, 16 pixel wide border) players were able to submit custom artwork as part of a contest?

Say the top five favorites were chosen, and implemented in-game? The player response would be HUGE, as I'm sure we've got a ton of amateur artists in the playerbase. Plus, who wouldn't want the chance to be immortalized in the Star Wars universe?

The art assets would simply need to be converted (I've got no idea what compression system the art team is using), added as database items, and added as either master architect schematics or -preferably- as a master architect quest schematic reward.

What do you guys think? (I know a few are occupied at the moment discussing shipwrightdevelopment *cough dvcne*, but this is the one thing I've always dreamt of doing in an MMO.)
