Ok .. I know some of you have been waiting patiently for me to speak a little more in detail bout the summit in austin.... and I thank you for being patient...
of course unfortunatly at this time there is not much that I can say in specifics.... but I will give as much details as I can..
On Combat....
Once it is released in official details you will see as to why it has taken so long to get this revamp out.. This will be a huge and major change to how combat is done in SWG.. I am really excited for these changes for it is definatly what this game needs in that area. A few areas that I can touch on is that the focus is definatly on balance and incorporating true group roles in both the PvP and PvE arena. As well as making a smooth meshing between profession roles that you may want to combine.... Yes that means there will no longer be One Uber Template, but instead any profession combination will have its advantage.. Also Tactics will be key.. No longer will it be who has the best Gear.. ( yes they will have an advantage but they will not have an automatic I win button ) and Lastly .. Any profession that directly or indirectly impacts Combat is addressed in these changes...
On crafting and Architecture...
Though the focus of this summit was 100% combat I will admit I took every opportunity to meet as many devs as I could and sneek in an argument about alot of our issues.. Even the ones that we have been straight out told No on I made progress on. I was able to show that on some of them.... what they thought was the basis for our wanting them was not even the issue.. I talked about stacking sizes.. gcw crafting... furniture colorization... all are accepted as keyissues for our community by the devs. Though it will be some time before we see any progress on these there is attentention planed for every profession in the near future... ( Real attention) .. I will also say that I was even approached by a few devs that had questions about some of our issues. So that means that importance of getting some issues worked out wasnt just onesided. They do wish to work out a way to give us what our profession needs.. I feel confident that great progress was made on many of our issues....
The overall Results of this summit...
There is nothing like a face to face discussion.. The devs and the Correspondents were truely able to get on the same page on so many issues it was amazing.... Both sides being able to understand clearly where the other side is coming from makes its so much more effective to work together to make the game better..
Also the Correspondents had a great meeting of the minds and were able to more effectively have a meating of the minds and collaborate joint efforts on many overlapping issues.. For example all of the crafting Corres are currently working on a joint proposal to sort of revamp the crafting in SWG.. though crafting does not need as much work as combat a few specific changes will make the system alot less work and alot more enjoyable. Also .. DocSavage ( one that a few may know just how much we but heads together on merchant crafter relationship issues ) and I actually got along well in person.. and spent alot of time discussion areas that would benifit both the merchant and the crafter in a mutual relationship..
Communication... as we all know needs a huge revamp.. well I think that the devs bringing us all down there inside their territorry and completely spelling out their plans is a huge step in trust showing the correspondents and the community that their intentions are genuine in improving the medium of communication.. I believe we will see great strides in more information being given to the communication most likely via the correspondent program..
The Fun stuff....
I am sure many of you have heard and seen the pictures... well pretty much I got about 4 or 5 hours of sleep the whole trip... though there was alot of socializing in Panthu's Cantina even then it was alot of discussion on what would make the game better... We had a great time and almost always there was a new Dev showing they were brave enough to hang out with us.. ( I hope they arent regreting it.. I know a few of the corres grinded hard on a few issues.... ( me most likely being one of them
)
A few of the places SOE took us too were amazing.. the Oasis was just impressive and if you are ever IN Austin you have got to make sure that you go there... Over all it was alot of good work and a very enjoyable time..
and of course there is No Dirt...
any way.. feel free to ask questions.. I will do my best to answer them... Even if the questions are to specific that I may not be able to answer still answer because it may be good for those the lurk behind the screens to see them too...

Is there any timeline being mentioned for when they will get around to addressing the professions concerns?

Any note on new structures from existing art? I would give up all... well... most... a little of my ore to have my Player City focused around one of those great NPC cantinas!

Yeah, I would love to know why we have had no non-Civic additions besides the silly tents in over a year. No, scratch that...I would love to know if you spoke about new structures, and if you got a sense that sometime before or upon JtL going Live that there will be new player-owned non-Civic structures in the game. Please, make COrellian buildings differen than generic, and bring them up to the level of Naboo or Tat buildings!
We need more variety in structures in this game.

Limed for emphasis.
When is it most likely that there will be some of the existing furniture that can't be crafted (ie half a dozen plants) will be craftable? And perhaps some loot-kit like items made by archs, artisans, or tailors. I'm all for having rugs in the game but dont' want to drop 10 mill to have wall to wall carpeting.

Happy to hear you got some time with the dev's and some of our issues into their offices while you were there. It's good to know that the dev's are that interested and involved in our issues. Hope to see some of them come to fruition in the very near future.

Not quite on topic, but did you get to see JTL and demo it? Any info on JTL? Will we get new factories for shipwrights, new crafting stations?

When When When? Another friday feature goes by and we get a damn forum skin. Anytime for that "trickle" of new info would help us feel like communication has changed. It sounds like it was all very wonderful, it's past time to produce.

Tivo here to show my gratitude from the Creature Handler forum on your brief yet reassuring words. We hope that these revamp docuements are brought forward soon. We're not getting any word on the CH forum, this is the most we've heard since the summit
