Thread: Differences in 45 rate crafting stations and non-45 rate?

Hi,

Is there really any difference in the rating of crafting stations? I'm talking here about so called 'perfect' crafting stations 45 rate and 'not-so-perfect' slightly less than 45 rate stations. Is there any proof to the claims? If so, what are the supposed benefits?

Thanks,

Ato

There is an entry in the FAQ. Only word from the DEVs is that it "influences" the result of experimenting or something. Exact quote should be in the FAQ. Testing done thus far hasn't shown much of any difference. I don't know if we've got anything totally conclusive, but if there is an impact from the station ratings then its definitely not obvious.

I had a hunch a while ago that the impact was completely outweighted by thecrafting skill impact of being at master level. SO I tested out the difference for a low level crafter and it seemed to skew results more towards the amazing and great success range when using good station/ tools, but my testing wasn't extensive.

I can only say that 'proof' is impossible for players to obtain, you can gather circumstantial evidence, but the problem with proving anything is that the results are random generated. You simply cannot say that the 'amazing' that you got from a perfect +45 station would have been any different if you had used a -10 station, you have no way of knowing what any result given would have turned out as on a higher or lower rated station. The only people who are capable of answering this question are those who are responsible for the coding, if they were to show us that the math behind stations gives a higher probability ratiio for better success rates then we would know. But they will not say, they only tell us that they are 'working as intended'

This has been discussed since launch (or even since last beta stage) and the only words we've got from devs has been "it's working as intended".

For me, "it's working as intended" = "actually we have no idea of how it works" because I can't understand why thisshould bea mistery for us.

My suggestion is: forget about crafting station's rating and try to focus on having a better crafting tool (14.9X) and crafting in a research centre city.

Aside from building harvestors who cares. It doesnt matter what the rating is on my crafting station and tools when im building furniture.

Actually...Structure Stations are not the only ones we make...Food and Chemical, Weapon/Droid...and Clothing/armor...This affects all professions...yet they won't tell us how it works...So yes, it does matter.

The DEVs have made the decision to NOT tell us how it works. They dont' want to spoil it by revealing the specific equation. They think we enjoy figuring out things on our own and if they just spewed out a pile of equations for anything and everything that would take the fun out of it for a lot of folks.

I can actually agree with that in part.

However, when we don't see any actual impact and question if it actually does anything or not and they still only say that it works as intended, then its a little frustrating.

Either its broken and the DEVs just don't realize it or its working fine and we don't understand what it is supposed to do exactly or when/ where it makes a difference.

I have an 18 station, but I've had more failures since I made master. It's almost as if it went up to my head or something.

I wish they would tell us the equation, since in practice it's just about impossible (at least in my experience) to see a difference in using 15.00 tools, 44.00 stations and -14.00, -32.00 tools.

I hope that I can actually see a difference in amazing successes while crafting someday--if I ever make it to force experimentation.

Has anyone actually built a 45 rating station ? I would think it would be ultra hard considering one of the subcomponents requires a good portion of the total assembly be steel and have high oq/cond ratings to have a great effectiveness experimentation. I know I've seen low forties stations just never bothered to think if the resources were available to make an actual 45.

Yes, they were made during the one day 'temporary tuesday' that crafting rules changed for one day only. It was possible to make 100% schematics on that day only. If you made the parts and a station then you could get 45.0, a few people did do so.

But I"m not really sure what the max was using normal experimentation rules. I think it was in the low 44.x range.

I can currently make 43.6 with the materials I've got and current experimentation. WE finally got a good polymer after a year long dry spell on Kettemoor.
