Thread: 3% to 5% to the Architect.
I propose 3% to 5% of the maintance fee charged to players go to the Architect who made the deed. That way price of homes doesn't have to increase, Architect could keep charging the 4 or 5 cr / resource for their homes and still make a decent buck. Just an idea.

Great idea. That would be nice and if I am reading it right I would be paying myself for all my harvestors I have up, that is even better.
WE HAVE A GENIOUS HERE! GOOD IDEA! ( I can't spell so I'm not the genious <-- i think its spelled wrong)
Interesting idea, but how does this fit realism?
If i 'sold' the deed, why is the customer still giving me money (granted, via the maintenance pool)?
one drawback if no one has noticed (beyond the fact that it'll never happen..) Don't you think that people are going to start selling stuff REALLY cheap, or even giving it away? After all, once you pass that critical mass of maintainence fees incoming, your havesters will be permanently paid for. This idea would just devalue the stuff we can make even more.

1. Even if you sold the deed it was made by <player> So that's how they keep track.
2. As for how long this % works Your maintance is $X per day @ say 2% it'll take 50 days to aquire the money for 1 day of maintance or you got to have 50 of that building bringing in maintance fees to be able to pay the maintance fee of 1 building. So it's not like I'm making a RACK load of cash fast, just some money to help me with my trade.
3. The "influx" of cash could end after the "Earned Maintance Income" (EMI) reaches 10 x Maintance fee for said building.
4. As for real world point of view. THIS IS NOT THE REAL WORLD. If I could build a building why can't I fix it? Why do I have to pay maintance fees? But in the game you do so please toss real world point of view out of the window.

As Tempus posted, if there is profit to be gained from this mortgage interest rate proposal, then people will just flood the bazaar with the houses.
Then, I'll have to buy all the deeds and destroy them, which makes me sad.

This would be a good idea IF:
1. The architect actually had to DO something to maintain the house. It doesn't seem right that you would get a percentage just because you built the house. Perhaps if you had to go to each customers house and put a structural module in it every week or so, however;
2. Architects don't do housing maintenance. We by nature design and build structures and furniture. Perhaps a Handyman class would actually get a hammer and nails out to fix a house.
3. Anything that pays credits at no risk will be exploited heavily, period.
