Why is this in the game? It took me over 2 days to get enough ore to make a large Naboo house and then I have a critical failure on it. How is this fun?

Yep that sucks. The largest failure I have had was a small house. Mostly I lose wall modules.

Bad luck evening. Crit failed on my first fusion power generator.
Crit fails weren't so bad when I was getting experience for making the components. Now it's just kind of insulting.
Oh well, there will be more ore tomorrow.

You would think that a Master Architect / Master Artisan would have a close to perfect success rate on structure assembly. No such luck. I seem to get critical failures just as often as I did before I mastered those.

I think they got rid of the constant failed combines like in EQ until you get leveled up in that particular type of crafting in favor of a system where you get great success right off the start, but at the cost of Masters still getting failures as well.

My worst was a wall, then 2 equipment factories...all in a row. Tonight I make a guild hall, a large house, a medium house, then fail 2 small houses in a row...go figure.
