Okay..there should be a way for the players to rename the items they architcts make, not the architects themselves. Here is my story..

My fiance' and I were looking for a large house to buy and someone was selling one (Eclipse server in Bestine) for 80k. I purchased one and then went to look for a spot to place it, when I did find a place it wound up being a personal mineral harvestor.

I submitted a ticket about it to the CSR and currentlywaiting a reply. I hope they do something about this, or I'm going to be very upset.

I doubt they'll do anything. This is bad. I would never do it. But be sure to look at the details of the item before you trade.

Yeah either examine the deed before you slap down 80k or get referred to a trustworthy architech. Most of my business as an architech is word of mouth.

First 80K for a large house is a steal, secondly you should always, always, look at the item details. It will tell you exactly what the item is. All you have to do is click on it in the trade window and it opens up.

How can a CSR do nothing about it?

There is a deed who's title name is a lie.

Furthermore the crafter's own name is stamped onto the deed.

I agree that something should be done but it is very likely that nothing can be done. I used to be a CSR for Everquest. Granted, I haven't seen the reimbursement rules for Galaxies yet but in most games there is a "All trades are final" rule. They call it a "secure trades" window for a reason. It gives you the security of not having to give the person the money/item first and then hoping the other individual holds up their end of the bargain. The reason nothing will be done is because it is the buyer's responsibility to make sure they are getting what they are paying for, especially since the tools are in place for them to see what they're getting.

Again I don't agree with this, I'm just stating the hypothetical point of view of the Galaxies CSR staff.

I would like to see some sort of policies on reimbursement and scams though. I did my best to stop scammers in EQ but I was limited in my powers. I had the time and resources to set up sting operations etc but we were not allowed for various logical reasons. I will however take the time to list a few scams that you can easily avoid.

BAIT and SWITCH:
The person will often have a high-end item selling for the price you expect. They actually own the item but you never get it. They will put the item up in the window, say a large house deed, then have to cancel for some reason. This will happen a second time, then on the third time they will put up an item of lesser value that looks exactly the same. You'll click ok and be out of luck.
How to stop it: Simply check the details EVERY TIME something is in your trade window. It only takes a few seconds and you will NEVER be ripped off.

BUY NOW, PAY LATER:
The person will have a great deal on a high-end (or any item) BUT it's on their other character. They will take the money from you then pull on their second character to give you the item. The second character never shows up and you're out of luck because you didn't use the secure trade window. This won't be so prevalent in Galaxies because of the one character rule but it's good to know anyway.
How to stop it: Simply NEVER trade without the window, if they want the money to go to the other character they can work that out themselves later. If they aren't willing to trade unless you do it that way then forget them, move on.

CRAFTING FAILED:
The person will offer to make you an item at cost if you provide the resources. They will attempt right there but will say it failed and make off with the resources.
How to stop it: This one is more difficult. It's a tempting offer because most crafters will do this simply because they want the experience. Unlike EQ, you can not be grouped with a person and see what they're making or if they fail/succeed. The only way to really prevent this is for the dev's to add that messaging system or for you NOT to use this method unless you completely trust the person.


Sorry about the long post but like when I was a guide if this can help just one person keep from getting ripped off, I've done my part.

I've noticed I have to now check the box marked "Automatically convert carriage returns to HTML line breaks" to get formatting correcting in this forum. Not sure why this suddenly seemed to change. Where do we /bug this?
