Thread: Made schematic for Manufacturing Mech messed up since patch?

Last night I made a generator by hand, then used it to make a manufacturing schematic for a mfr mechanism. For some reason, the schematic called for a specific generator by serial# !

Of course this made the schematic completely worthless, since I couldn't make more with that same serial#. So I'm out a generator, plus, in order to make a schematic for a mfr mech, I need to first waste *another* generator making a schematic for it, make a bunch in a factory, and then use those to make a schematic for the mech.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Always been that way. Manf mech has always called for a specific numbered generator in the schematic.

to make manufatruing mechanisms you gotta first make the generator turbines in the factory. this makes them all have the same serial # hence letting you craeate them in th factory .

But nothing else works that way that I've seen, so why this? I can make a wall schematic out of hand-made blocks and the schematic will take any blocks and churn out identical wall units. Unless they "fixed" that too. But I've got such a schematic right now.

Yeah structure modules are different, the only thing that doesn't need to be identical.

Man that is lame. It triples the cost of starting up identicale manufacturing mechs. If the schematic is going to require identical components, it shouldn't let you make one from a hand-crafted item. You are basically just wasting it.

yeah....and we are ultra screwed since you dont get any XP for them either...

but our correspondent and the evil Cabal of Crafters refuse to recognize that its a problem....

Plus If you need 2 you will need the resopurces for 4...1 for the schematic and 3 for the factory...tehre is a very good chance that your factory will eat the resoucres and not make one...so you always have to make more than you need....

guess its not a problem if you are duping your resources though

Don't power core units take identical subcomponents too?

fyi make one more generator turb than you need. I was trying to make 4 manufacturing mechs and it kept eating my resources until I put in 5 generators. I got to keep the extra gen but it still needed 5 to make 4.

I think they've just fixed it. Its as it should be though yeah ? Was a bug previously I thought that let you make gen turbs by hand and them use them as identical components.
