Thread: My thoughts on our economy
Architect:
Critical Fails and looses 1/2 a planet of resources.
Assembles product and trys to sell it for 3cpu and gets laughed at
Either has to master Artisian or deal with another one to get components.
2 lots for a factory. It makes 'bigger' things so its bigger. A medium house is 'bigger' also takes 2 lots.
Has to find other people to help him. Normally this group is the size of a small army and is running 10 or more harvesters to supply them with materials and usually charges .. yes 3cpu. The other way around it is for the architect to run his own harvesters, which still forces him to rent lots for a factory and a workshop. You cannot work without space. Your inventory will not allow it.
Still faces the challenges of being killed in combats with no risk besides going back to the cloning tank.
Weaponsmith:
Critical fails and looses rare resources. Has to experiment to get a good item.
Assembles product and asks 10+ cpu for it. People tear the door off of his shop to buy 1 or more of these.
Not really sure what kinda components this guy needs. But he gets 2 factories to print them in at our cost.
He could easily run his operation solo. Bare minimum he could realistically have a workshop, factory and harvesters and not have to rent any more.
Still faces the challeges of being killed in combat with no risk besides going back to the cloning tank.
Combat Class:
Critical Fails (dies) and looses 0 experience and 0 resources.
Asks architect how much something costs. They say 3 cpu and he laughs at them. He tears the door of the weaponsmiths shop to buy a gun for 10+ cpu.
He needs no components to make anything. He might decide to kill 3 creatures in less than 10 minutes and make a tent. If he fails its cool. Just shoot some more worts.
He has 10 lots to do what he wishes with.
And yes he too faces the challenges of being killed in combat with no risk besides going to the cloning tank.
Yes its time to go anon and explore the wonderful world of combat life. Stockpile resources and come back again when the economy resembles something stable. My bank account looks like the line on charlie browns shirt.. up down...up down.. up down.. And i dont undercharge. I add for the fact that we can fail. I add for matience or resource cost. People just dont want to pay it. Everyone under charges. None of the other architects listen to people when you suggest they should raise thier prices. They are in fact insulted by it. Wait until they all run themselves out of buisness and come back with something solid.. thats about the only thing to do... and if all architects did it.. they would have to pay whatever price we set on a deed.
Just a thought.
Coming from an architect
"Assembles product and trys to sell it for 3cpu and gets laughed at"
While this is annoying this is something every architect brought upon themselves. There are either too many architects or no architect has enough guts to stand for their prices and charge a decent amount. If you go down to 3c/unit to me you shouldn't be the one talking about how mad you are that our prices are so low.
If their happen to be too many architects(this is the case IMO) then there really is no solution other than less architects. If the supply is 100 large houses in a week and the demand is 50 larges the prices will fall just because at least a few people will probably need credits for maintenance and what not.
I refuse to sell for less than what I can mine other resources and sell them at. This is about 4c/unit on Eclipse. I did the 3c/unit thing for a while and it just wasn't worth the effort to me. I wasn't planning on getting rich in this game especially since there is no way to spend 10 million credits even if I had it. The people that don't mind selling at 3c/unit are the ones with 40+ heavys to their name mining away on ore. Spending 1-2 hours a day to make 1 large house or 1 heavy harvestor to me isn't worth it. Spending 2 hours a day to make 5-6 of those would be. It always come down to what people think their time and skill is worth. Resources if you mine them yourself are under 1c/unit on almost anything. Just add what your time is worth onto that.
Sorry if I offended anyone. I've just come to realize that either sony doesn't care about this profession or the rest of the community has come to think of us as the scum of the universe and our only use is to make things cheap so they can make a fortune off using them.
I have long said that I travel with gun and can use it, just raised to Rifle Spec last night on way to sniper, and i am not a master arc but who cares. I have been running to Mos Entha (well taking the bus) and taking care of harvestors then going to Anchor to Run Rebel Missions, made Lance Corp last night, have participated in some Bestine Raids, all real unsuccesful but i have been having ( get this ) fun.
I havent been digging in the dirt I have been running with some friends and killing some Imp dogs. I have about 10 K ore right now 7 K Alum, I am getting a stockpile of steel that should be waiting for me tonight to add to the 2K I have of that now and when I have some down time i make some walls and gen items for when when that one person that wants something at my prices buys it. Go anon buy a gun for 10cpu and sell when you can sell for how much you want. I make more from missions than i do from selling and I am still moving up the arc tree. I have a ton of titles I can wear from homemaker to Apprectice sharpshooter, SOE will give us more points to dump in our pools eventually to push people to the elite elite classes and they can go to support the lower levels in the tree. Go kill (its fun) and dont worry about selling houses most people dont want, or let them seek out the going out of business sales that most of the people selling for 6k will be having since its back to school and they are going to have an earlier curfew. Bottom line, I have been spouting in these areas, have some freakin fun.

This is sort of what im suggesting but with a different angle. Less architects means prices rise. Supply and demand. If you pull yourself out of the game several things will happen:
A) The market continues to be lower than it should and never rises. Small houses and medium mineral miners end up on the bazaar. All architects realize wow this isnt possible and there are less architects. You saved yourself months of trouble by dealing with this and went and made money another way. You can now run combat missions and pump a few credits into your Harvesters. You still have in the bank what it takes to come back and be an architect when B happens:
B) The Archs start raising thier prices again and the economy inclines. Supply and demand. If you can jump back in and make some cash off of it then do it.
C) History repeats itself. You then see A happening again because people see how much money architects are making and they decide they want to be one. You jump back out when it declines again and wait for B.
Just the way i see it. You will never have architects realize they need to charge a good price because they wont be an architect for long. Thier sales tactics are to beat the other guys price by 5k. Then the next beats his by 5k and so on. They are all tuggin at the rope that they think is attached to thier competition when in reality its attached to thier own ankles. Im just going to be patient and wait ... then kick them while they are down there ![]()
