Thread: Artwork, Rugs, Lighting?

Hey guys, I'm not an architect, but I thought of a few things that would make nice additions to your profession. I realize there are more pressing issues at hand with you guys, but I figure it can't hurt to make suggestions. That being said...

Artwork and Rugs: Some static buildings have sculptures, desk artwork, paintings on the walls, and rugs on the floors. Why can't these assets be available to player houses? I think it could really make the less visually appealing (Corellian/Generic) homes seem more "homey." Perhaps there could be 1 of each of these addedto each of the Furniture skill boxes.

Lighting controls: How difficult would it be to let us control the lighting in the different rooms of our houses? At the very least, I think there should be an on/off switch. It makes no sense that I'd leave all of the lights in my house on at all times (particularly my bedroom). And then, if it's not too difficult, it would be VERY nice to have a "dimmer" switch in each of the rooms where I could set the percentage of brightness. As far as implementation, this could either be put in as an automatic feature in all homes or it could be some sort of optional module that could be crafted and then added into the final assembly.

I'm curious what you guys think. I know these are definitely things that I would like to see, but I understand that tastes/opinions can vary.

I would certainly pay a small fortune for an interior designer to go to my store and paint the walls, floors, and so forth.

This is an excellent post. Right now architecture skill is hurting, it is essentially a dead-end. More furniture and items will add a lot to the game AND the skill, and your ideas on lighting are great.

And most importantly the idea of allowing architects to come in and be interior designers.... this gives an architect profession something to DO in the game besides grind out deeds for other people who are richer than the architects can ever hope to be, since an architect cant even make enough from a deed to outperform theprofitmade from selling the raw resources on the bazzar.

I created an architect player on day 3 after the release. I'd really like to be able to have some FUN with it. The most fun i have with the character is actually helping people decorate their place since I know all the tricks to do so, it would be nice if that was an actual function of the architect class.

Oovik, you are preaching to the choir here.

We all think that Interior Designing in this game isone huge joke that the Devs are have a laugh at, at our expense.

Nothing on architechs, not one thing. Most of the other professions are covered, but not us. Go to the dev track board, again no replies to anything on this board. Expect nothing new until the player cities, which at this rate, will not be happening soon and I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't get held over to the new expansion.

Yeah and the Devs actually talk to them and are fixing their problems.

Where is the Dev post in our forum communicating with us? Other professions are being fixed, we are not.

Doesn't mean people cant make suggestions here, Magnus.

I'd love to be able to legitimately place objects on desktops, without resorting to the staircase bug. I'd love it if table lamps and free-standing lamps WORKED. I hate tiki torches. I hate having to have customers go OUTSIDE to check the colors on outfits I make. I'd love a BLUE futon.

Not one of these things is a show-stopping game-breaking bug. Nonetheless, it needs to be addressed.

Forget lamps and lighting, I just want to be able to mount stuff on my walls and on top of tables!

Yeah, I agree that Architect is getting neglected a bit. Maybe the good ole Correspondent can help pitch some of these ideas to the Devs?

What I don't understand is other professions coming to these boards and whining and saying, "You think this should be implemented? That's dumb, my prof. lacks -----, ----- and -----."

Ok, sure, you win, this isn't a huge issue, BUT....

How does this possibly hurt the other professions? /boggle
