Thread: A few SHOW STOPPERS for architects still
1. We really need experimentation on harvesters/factoriesto be working so we can make them faster and more effencient to run. Last i checked a heavy harvester with 80% efficient ore mining units was pulling exactly the same resources as a 0%. This is a major hole in the game for those of us masters whose life would now be spend playing with experimenting.. instead we are stuck making the same old same old.. over and over again.. I would rather spend my time trying to make rares and ubers than twiddling my thumbs waiting for urban planner.
2. We need stuff we make to break and decay. Harvester have to break beyond repair at some point. Furnature has to break. Even factories have to break down at some point. This will enable us not only to keep stuff rotating but also encourage us to use matterial with high decay resistance.
3. We need an idea how far off urban planner is. Many of us are waiting, but dont know how long. We need to be encouraged in some way to stick it out.
4. We need something to spend our credits on. Yippy i am ultra rich and have millions of resources ready to make even more money when cities come out. Please tell everyone in the game there is going to be something NPC sold that will be very expensive in the future.
Please respond to these current issues much like you have in that other post. Seriously the life of the master architect sucks pretty bad. There is nothing to do but wait for cities and hope stuff gets fixed some time.

uummmm...these aren't show stopping issues. These are minor annoyances. Show stoppingissues are things that prevent you from peforming basic tasks. Examples of show stopping issues:no ore spawns on your server for a month, you can't craft small storage structures or structure modules.
I'm a software developer by trade and classification of defects/enhancements is part of my job. Shouting out critical fixes for something that isn't critical takes away developer time from things that are critical issues. Someone has to take time to read and evaluate your issues and then decide if those issues are as critical as you claim. That takes away from time they could be spending on fixing the real critical issues.
I want to see the game develop well (I'm sure you do to or you wouldn't have posted) and SOE has a lot of work just trying to fix identified software defects. Give em a chance to sort those out (another 3 months) before trying to turn their attention to these types of issues.
To give you an idea of how critical an issue is, think about how many other actions you simply can not perform if the issue is not resolved. Being unable to move under normal circumstances would be huge because it prevents you from performing so many other actions. Being unable to craft a Bookcase affects is very minor because it affects nothing else.
You post such piddly issues as SHOW STOPPERS. What happens when something serious breaks and the devs aren't bothering to read our posts anymore because of people like you? Stop crying wolf.

I believe very strongly that experimentation and decay are indeed show stoppers. To me it is absolutely the same as if weaponsmith or armorsmith experimentation would be broken. The whole balance of this game is in the experimentation and decay setup. But we have none of that. If all our class can do is build a basic house then every master architect has nothing to work for, strive for, accomplish.
If our experimentation worked we would have so much to work for. Building better factories and harvesters. If there are too many resources coming in.. lower the generic harvester rate.. make 95% effecient harvesters work just a little better than what we have now.
As a master architect. I should be...
1. Working with melees to buy and attain experimental adjustment items.
2. Spending a lot of time finding and placing harvester on the perfect resources
3. Spending time mixing and matching resources to build the best harvesters i can
4. Stocking my store with items that decay so people can get them fast
5. Saving up credits to buy items.. much the same way melee save faction points to buy stuff
As it is.. as master architect
1. I spend my time saving supplies for cities.. mostly cause there is no point to getting any more credits and i am tired of building just what everyone else builds.
Don't hash on my cause this really is a show stopper for me... I believe these are basic game mechanics that were left out. If swg actually delivered on the promises of this system.. the game would be awesome.

Holocron has already stated that the devs feel resources are being gathered too quickly as it is, so I doubt that we will see any work on experimentation for harvesters any time soon.
Holocron also thinks that experimenting on something gives you extra XP... And that factories are more efficient then hand crafting...
Yet you believe this?

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. But I can't test your opinion, I can'tquantify your opinion, your opinion on what is a show stopper is no where near an industry standard identifiable measure. Your subject is a show stopper for architects but you are posting about what you don't like. If you want architects to give you credence then quantify your complaint into something other architects can relate too for your subject.
There is no show stoppers for any profession currently. If there was, then those professions would not be logging in and actively using those skills. I have active skills in artisan, architect, droid engineer, merchant, scout, entertainer (another server), and marksman. I have many friends in the other professions. We can perform a majority of our skills without a hitch.
I'm not saying that your complaint isn't valid or that architects don't agree with your opinion (Most architects do agree with what you are saying) but your ideas don't mean that we should quit being an architect now.
Heck, if every architect on Intrepid quit right now (which I do NOT want to happen), my sales would go through the roof, fame and fortune would be mine. I'd have a tight gripped control over a commodity no one else could produce. Droid engineers would be my slaves. Bounty Hunters would bow to me. Miners would beg for my attention. Muhahahaha!!!
Sorry, where was I? Please refrain from crying that the sky is falling when all that has happened is that an apple hit your head.
