Thread: My quick experiment while on lunch
Well I ran to a co-workers house to check to see the state of my harvesters and to make a new one with experimentation.
I'm sorry I don't have exact numbers but we where in a rush to get back.
Most of my old mediums said they where a base extraction rate of 3 Kg/H with ~5000 hopper size. At first I was infuriated.
I then ran back to my workshop to make a new one. Most of the materials used where very high quality. Steel had a 950+ UT and the ore had a 997 Decay 998 UT.
I experimented every sub-component to around 60% (mostly a limitation of 5 points not 10)
I then experimented the final harvester (i didn't take note of the final % :smileysad
I did 1 point at a time with a 4% risk on each, each was a great success.
The final result was a Med. Mineral with a 7% extraction rate and 65k hopper. Before experimentation the extraction rate was 7% and the hopper was somewhere between 50-55K.
So the quick and dirty is that it seems that the med. mineral can now be experimented up to the efficiency of the old heavy with a larger hopper than the old mediums but small than the old larges (a fair trade off).
I know this isn't very scientific, and this is an example of a top end product, not sure what the minimums are.
This is a real double edged sword for us, on one hand this is a great improovment to our class and resource gathering, and could help our market drasticly.
On the other hand, this could all be a bug and be hotfixed tomorrow so we are all back to teh samecookie cutter harvesters. I also don't agree that everyones harvester is potentially borked, but if you think about it logicly it had to be done.
If I had to guess the base line middle of the road experimented harvester will be around the same as what we knew, with the potential to higher, please note this is different than what was on test as they plumeted the values and the top ends didn't even get back to what the origional harvesters where.
At this point I really hope they decide to leave this, but on the other hand I do feel bad for anyone that owns a gimped retro harvester.
One thing I forgot to mention is that the Light Ore Mining Unit was of every high quality as well. This is the only piece that has an eficiency rating.
I am not sure if the subcomponents play into the final combine I need to run more tests when i get home, and I am not sure if this is related to the outcome of the efficiency of the harvester itself.
Since the efficiency of the harvester did not raise on the final combine I can only assume 2 things. 1.) The cap for a medium is 7%, or 2.) The Light Ore Mining Unit directly relates to the final efficiency of the harvester.
