I have been going thru the fourms here and i have noticed everyone bitching about the price of stuff. Now i went over and looked at www.swgcraft.com and i figure the architect should be getting his supplies for 3.5 cr per unit.. now if that is the case wouldn't you want to sell for say.. 4.5 cr per unit so you can make a little bit of money.. now i looked over there and for instance.. i saw that it takes 13,550 resouces to make a structure factory.. now i have played on 4 differnet servers, and i have seen that they run 40k for a factory.. NOW take 13,550 and times that by 3.5 and you will notice that it is actually costing 47,425 which means for 40k you would be losing 7,425. maybe i am crazy and i dunno what i am talking about.. but last night i had a guy throw a fit cause i would not give him a factory for 2500 cr WHAT IS UP WITH THAT!! anyway.. if some of you would please.. tell me how you are pricing this stuff!!! i don't want to rip anyone off but with the rate of the prices i don't understand how anyone makes any money on the game!!! anyone this is my rant.. i hope you all enjoy

dependant on the level of abuse i got..they would get a price hike..or no sale...if they dont like the price, nothing gives them the right to give grief..they arent being forced to buy from you and are free to look for a better price.

as for price i generally ask the other guild arch what hes charging and add on 40k...hes allways well stocked and i dont want a in guild trade war...i then send em guildies wp

wait a sec.. you add 40k to your price after hearing what the others charge?? so for a small house if they are selling for 10k you add 40k to that making your small houses cost 50k??

I do the math. Most people supply me with ore for 2.5c/u i supply most of the other materials wich is about 1c/u. given i am small time archi, I price about 3-4c/u for most things, factory materials 4-5c/u. but then when the demand goes up i may raise my price to slow sales untell i can replenish stock.

If i have to spend more to get materials then i charge a little more.

existing customers get fixed pricing, its the walk in and buy that i vary

ok it cost you pretty much 3.5 c/u (2.5 ore 1.0 for everythign else) and you are selling for 3-4 u/c??? so you are either losing money or making .5% off of it?? and the factory stuff you bump up to cover the cost of the schematic that you made.. which is smart i will start doing that.. but again.. if you make 30 of them and only waste the materials for 1 i don't see a big mark up you could do to cover that.. but anyway.. i just wanted to get what you said clear.. maybe i am missing how you are doing this..

I mine all my own materials, excpet for a few here and there and when I need some small amounts (like gas, etc.) quickly.

This allows me to set my prices at 3CPU and make a good profit.

For the most part, the market sets the prices. I just charge what I think is a fair profit for me and fair for the customers. I have never had anyone say you are charging too much. I have asked why so expensive and then when I tell them how many resources it takes, they understand.

ahh ok so you can charge 3 credit per unit cause you make your own.. ahh ok i was reflecting my post off of 3.5 credit per unit but if you get enough slots to place all your own stuff then you are doing really well hehe.. and yes i have to explain to everyone everytime i sell a heavy harvestor why it cost so much and all that.. and it gets sooo annoying.. cause they always bitch and whine about it hehe but i am nice and i make sure they understand..

now what ya said about the market making the prices.. don't most ppl buy their stuff?? or does everyone seem to havest their own materials now?? cause i see everyone buying from resource sellers so to speak.. and from what i have seen it is usually 3-3.5 per unit..

Scortch I used to do what you do, and I am not faluting you in any way at all, you set your prices how you see fit and that is fine with me. But about a month ago I started pricing totally differently, and am making slightly higher profits becasue of it while still achieving the same resusts with my customers.

I charge about 20% less than what most of the other architects on my planet/server sell for. That means some of my sutff goes for 3cpu, some goes for up to 4cpu a couple of items go for closer to 2.5 cpu.I still make a large profit on everything I sell and my customers are delighted that they are getting a deal that is better than what they are used too.

I am not sugguesting you change, 3cpu worked well for me for a long time, and I am sure it will work well for you.

p.s. I also mine all my resoruces and only buy when I absoultly have too, and that is really rare.

2.5 for ore and 1 for everything else isnt 3.5 in costs

roughly half is ore - the other metals

(2.5+1)/2=1.75c/u

given i do buy some gas and other things i dont want to take the time to buy. so perhaps 2c/u tops after vendor costs, misc, factory. schematics.

i personaly pay between 2.0 and 2.5 cpu for all my materials, i charge about 3cpu on most everything so i'm still making a good profit there, i generally get hides for free and some times my suppliers will through in some extra materials at no cost if they have only a few k more than what i wanted.
