I'm thinking of making a component vendor with crates of pcu, walls and such...
what would you want to pay for a PCU, and what do you charge for them if a DE wnats one (they need it to make power droids)

Hmmm, no idea about pcu's but maybe you want to think about architect usable components such as Generator turbines, storage modules etc. These are often the second bottleneck in an architects day (first is always the dreaded Walls). As long as you can turn those out in IDENTICAL batches (say 100 at a time) factory crated you should be able to find a market. The number of times I have had to postpone making harvesters because I have depleted my stock of generator turbines and haven't had the time or resources to make a new batch of 500 or so is just not funny. Price? well, as long as it is not too far above resource cost, say 2-3cpu over to pay for factory power and maintenance this should be workable in my opinion, as it is a major time saver. But you are doing the right thing with the market research, it needs enough potential customers to make it work. I must say it is a gap in the market that should be worth exploiting, there is not to my knowledge anybody doing this on my server, and I often wish there were.
