Thread: How do you guys get bulk hide (particularly wooly) for furniture?
What are other folks doing out there? Any ideas on how to arrange a steady supply of big stacks?
Ohh this is easy....
Get a group of your guild mates... or just grab a bunch of guys or gals looking to fight either on Dathomire or Endor. Offer to pay 2.5-3 c/u for each hide. If you are on Dathomire - get the 36k missions for Rancor and just have everyone harvest- by end of one nights worth you will be set for a long time. I already have about 100k of the same type of Dathomire leathery hide doing that- and the guys in the group love killing Rancor bc the missions pay so much andxp is great. On Endor you do the same thing- but I can't remember what we hunted there for woolly hide.

1. "guildmates" - no gots
2. combat skills - falling by the wayside - I still have Pistols 2 and Ranged 1.
Still, there are some folks I know who might be interested.
this is really for a totaly different topic i guess, but i dont make furniture... my player city has a couple of architects. rather than under cut each other (ala price war) to get/ keep clients, we share the available business.
i consentrate on extractors only while the other guy does houses and furniture. we work well together because when someone asks me to make them a couch, i take the order and quote the price (we know each others prices) and pass the order on to the other architect. and vice verca. he also does most of the artisan work (bikes etc), so it is fairer than it sounds at first clance.
thats a rather simplistic explination, but its the jist of it.
Hire a Ranger, they harvest 850+ Leathery Hides off a single rancor (at master).

The problem with the Bazaar Galazy-wide search, is it only searches the planets that connect to the one your on.. and not every planet... I'm not saying this is fact, but it seems to be this way.
I have to buy bulk hides for furniture as well, and I also need them for armor, so it's a big item for me. When I go shopping for the hides on the Bazaar on Rori, I couldn't find more than 1200 units for sale and 1000 were for auction... But when I flew to Corellia and looked on the Bazaar there, I found hides on Naboo, Tatooine, Corellia, and Talus. I was able to buy 60,000 hides from the Bazaar, all for 4c or less, about 3.5 avg in one day. The flights cost me another 5000 to collect it all.. heh. Since I'm on Tatooine, I've found there are alot of people selling hides on the Bazaar, usually the same few people selling large numbers, and I get in touch with them for an order..
Been working out ever since.
Zen-
You really should join a guild. In my guild I tell everyone I'll buy hides from them, of any type, for 5 cpu, as long asI get a stack of 1k or more. Guild mates leave them on my vendor all the time. When needed, a night hunting with the guild on Endor or Dant goes a long way for master furniture. Wooly hides (regular ones) are fairly easy, hunting bantha on Tat. And everyone loves to hunt bantha. I heard (though do not know) that the little bunnies are wooly on Corellia, so even super newbies can harvest wooly hides.
On Endor, the only wooly hide creature I know of is a gurreck. Those things are pretty fiesty, but thankfully conceal shot is my friend ;-). The leathery on Dant is more plentiful (as noted, lots of people like to hunt Rancors).
But back to how to find people to harvest for you: Join a player city and get involved in it. Join a guild and get involved in it. Use both "associations" to meet new people and let them know about your needs. A newbie scout, trying to make a credit or 2 in the galaxy, will jump all over a chance to make 5 cpu for hides.
In my furniture pricing, I figure I pay 5 cpu for each unit of hide, and then add 3 cpu profit. Then I add in metals at 3 cpu, and that's my hide furniture pricing (for example, a couch (tan one) is 2140). I do get some hides for "free" (from my dear husband Seiph), but I still figure it this way. Master furniture is priced completely differently, of course, to stem demand.
And given my active involvement in a PA on Chilastra, I'm not eager to add to my commitments by joining a guild anyplace else.
I guess I'll approach some guilds around that focus on hunting and see if they are interested in a "contract" to deliver hides.
Thanks again for the thoughts.
