Thread: Have Crit Failures increased since the last reboot?

I don't know if its just me (am I having a bad day, is the moon in the wrong starsign, I have I had too many black cats walk my way, etc), but I'm now seeing Critical Failures occuring 25% of the time (ie; one in four attempts results in a crit) - for both experimentation and construction - whereas yesterday these rates were lucky to be at 5% (be lucky to happen one in 20 times).

The same components, tools, station & resources are being used. I haven't died at all since yesterday and can't think of anything else that may of affected this.

Has anyone else noticed this or I am just having a "bad crafting day"?

While crit failures on experimentation are still a problem, crit fails are assembly are not. If you crit fail on assembly, simply click the Assemble button again, and you'll create the item. This works for installations and buildings.

I live in a city with research being activated.

I have experience 3 in a row critical failure for a lot of times. Before that, I have one or 2 failure that will space out.

Its not a problem per-se (crits are a fact of life), it was more the increased frequency I found yesterday.

Today though it seems to have gone away and crits on experimentation and assembly are back to normal. Strange is a word I find myself using more and more in relation to this game .

My first two experimentations after making Master Architect last night were critical failures. Four tries to get a BER10 harvester because of lots of 'Average' and 'Good' Successes. Artisan experimentation was working as usual :/

Smells fishy.

I'll have to say they there up. I had 30 of them during construction last night, where I would have normally only gotten about 12, but I'll have to say its better then what it was before. I would rather have a critical failed on the experiment phase then have on in the construction phase.

One of my neighbors (an Armorsmith) was having a horrible run of bad experimentation. I think it took him 9 tries before he got a "great success" result. I haven't had any particular problems myself lately. I think that many people have observed that crit fails or bad experimentation can come in batches. It might be due to a poor randon number generator. It might even be an intentional effect (maybe thats giving SOE too much credit). Or it might just be pure coincidence like if you flip a coin 500 times then you'll end up getting 10 heads in a row at some point.
