Thread: Questions about how harvesters work, BRE?

I figured I would ask the people that make them and use them on how they work. So here is goes.

I am interested in how harvesters work. I just started on the road to chef and am wondering what I really need and how they really work. From what little I think I know, there are 3 types of harvesters small, medium, and large. The smalls range of extraction rate is 2-4, mediums 5-7, and large 10-13 I know this may vary but its from what I have seen. Now what does this actually mean? Lets throw up a scenario, I just found surveyed water at 50% and I place down a BRE of 7, does this mean that every sec I will collect 7 x 50% = 3.5 units per sec?

I also have a question on redeeding a harvester does any one have a list on what it cost to redeed them? I would hate to destroy one and then not get the deed back because I didn’t have enough in the maintenance fund.

How many lots do each size take up? (small 1, medium 2, large 4 ??)

Thanks I know these are basic questions for some of you but I am just now learning the artisan side of things as I now only do what the Holos tell me too.

The FAQ, located at:

has this to say.

===========================================
HARVESTERS

Q-3.1: How many lots does a harvester take?

A-3.1: All harvesters require 1 lot each.

However the physical clear and flat landscape squares required for medium and heavy harvesters is more than a personal.

Q-3.2: How much is maintenance and energy requirement for a harvester?

A-3.2: For mineral, chemical, fora, gas and water:

Personals: 720 credits and 600 energy

Mediums: 1440 credits and 1200 energy

Heavies: 2160 credits and 1800 energy

Energy collectors use:

Windmills: 1440 credits, Solar : 1440 credits, Fusion: 1440 credits.

Q-3.3: Can you build me a large windmill or a small solar generator?

A-3.3: There are 3 generators of energy: wind harvesters, solar generators and fusion generators. Wind harvesters are the personal size energy generator, solars are the medium level and fusions are the heavy.

Q-3.4: How much does it cost to redeed a harvester?

A-3.4: The formula for the redeeding cost is 100 x maintenance rate. So if you have a harvester that has a maintenance rate of 30, the redeed cost is 3000.

Q-3.5: How much do harvesters produce?

A-3.5: It is dependent on the extraction rate of the harvester in question. The extraction rates vary from harvester to harvester depending on the experimentation results during its crafting.

The general formula is:

Output per hour = Extraction rate in kg/h * 60 * density% = # units produced / hour
Output per day = Extraction rate in kg/h * 1440 * density% = # units / day

Example: A medium mineral harvester with an extraction rate of 6 kg/h on a 75% aluminum density will give you
= 6 * 60 * 0.75 = 270 units per hour production or 6480 per day

Also, medium harvesters can get as high as 10 BER. And yes, a BER 10 medium harv will pull exactly the same amount as a BER 10 heavy harv, but the medium will cost you less in power and maint.
