Thread: Architect Morale Poll
I've seen alot of people mentioning morale in our top 5 issues. So the question is, what gets your morale downas an Architect, and whatdo you currently enjoy as an architect.
Try and make a brief version and then a long version after if you need to. I need to have time to read most of this ![]()
1) Experimentation, with 100 points coming soon (well 125 for me) no reason to make harvesters unless someone needs them immediately as new ones will be significantly better.
2) Urban planner, ok so maybe not enough stuff to make a whole class but when rolled into ours that's all the structures we get?!?
3) All the furniture that they already have objects for that we don't have schematics for. Good example the 12-15 plants
LOL been so unmotivated I don't think I've moved a harvester or placed a new fusion gen in almost 2 weeks just reset the minerals and running on old power.
what i enjoy :- typing /quit at the end of the knight.
but i will FIGHT on.
I feel great as an architect....
I know I talk doom and gloom about lask of decay, but on the whole we are working in one of the best profesions in the game. I love the entire competitive business environment. My only consern is about the future of the profesion, we are doing well now but I see our end comming soon, even sooner now that harvestors extract more resources.
Pesonally those who say they hate SWG should just quit, I wouldnt waste a moment of my time playing a game I hate. I have too much of a life for that.
I am not an experimentation kinda guy, so the new changes coupled with insane amount of resources make me gloomy. Why? 'Cause I spent the better part of an evening this week just looking for a decent spot of only marginally decent ore. I liked architect the way it was without the mundane additives of other crafting professions. I realize, however, that I am in the minority. I am going to finish Master 'cause I am almost there anyways, so no reason to throw all that away. Once at Master I will upgrade all my PA members stuff, houses, harvesters, furniture, etc, etc. Then hang up that beautiful robe and continue to kill creatures great and small mercilessly. I am a novice Rifleman and the Rebellion needs more of us than Architects
.
However, by far this profession is pretty good. Most of our stuff works and we provide a needed (tho dimishing) set of goods. Look at DE and Chefs if you really want to get depressed hehehe.
Not in any particular order.
1. Seeing my business dwindle more and more each week
2. Being tossed the bone of player cites when in fact this will fix nothing for architect and will only make a short lived increase in revenue. (Most guilds have their own architect. Usually someones extra account)
3. Seeing weaponsmiths and armorsmiths being tossed more and more money every single day while architects are being put out of business every single day. (See decay changes on test for Incap/death. Throw piles of business at the previously mentioned classes.)
4. An increasing desire to join the droves of weaponsmiths in the money machine.
Lots of gloom and I'm sorry but I've seen nothing mentioned to fix any of this.
Iniv
At this very moment, not counting any changes that MAY come our way.
1) The INSANE amount of resources required.
2) The INSANE amount of resource lost on a crit failure (because you also loose subcomponents that have already passed and been made).
3) The constant moving of resources, sometimes as soon as 3 days, and having to constantly find new spots.
4) The constantly low % spots of ore.
5) The fact that ant hills and bugs stop placement of large harvesters, let alone that tiny little dip or bump or slight .05 degree incline.
6) Schematic problems that stop production in a factory and you have to babysit the factory to hand feed it.
7) Having to place more than 1 house because of having to have so many resources that you run out of room.
That's what bugs me as an architect.
What I like about architecture:
Building things and running out somehwere and seeing a house i built for someone.
Getting structures for free since I make them.
It feels like a noble profession.
I like making a sale a day for a good wad of credits. If I wanted mass sales I would be a weaponsmith. That is why it's ok that we need so many resources for our product.
What gets me down about architecture:
Ore that never gets above 60% in concentration and takes trips to every city on the planet to find. New ore means running for 4-5 hours straight running down a vein that takes thousands of meters to develop.
No respect for our product. People will spend 40k for a top end rifle but won't spend 65k for a medium house that has no decay. And if it did, our products take way to many resources to mass produce to replace things constantly.
People who sell for to little because they don't care if it hurts others in it for the long run.
House for storage and structure factory ='s almost half our lots.
Losing 20k or more on a critical fail on a final combine. This is "un-fun" hear that Thunderheart
Critical failing on experimentation making my harvestor pretty unsellable.
Architecture just isn't fair compaired to other crafting professions. Any other profession can mass produce sub componants AND the final items. They just need to get a good experiment run on a final assemble and they can easily pump out 100 items because their prodcut doesn't take alot to make. If they mess up experimenting, big whoop, cancel out and try again. Risk to reward ratio for any experimenting or even the final combine is wacked. It's "un-fun". Do you know how long it takes someone to gather the resources needed to be an architecture? The average architect, not the two account "supa tec".
The only thing preventing me from changing professions is the grind they take.
Seeing the business change so dramatical throughout the few months and it all pointing toward one directiong, end of game for architects due to a broken profession. First it was small houses and simple furniture. Then bigger homes and the good furniture, next PA halls, then no housing at all cept the odd case. It moved on to heavy harvesters for a month, and then crafting stations when they got a number to them. Now it planning for cities, which is great. However once the city is built andnew buildings furnished, the profession ends. There may be a good rush for highly experimented harvesters but then what?
In a way, this was a good thing really. The job was kept interesting as the economy shifted. I am not sure decay is going to fix much. With decay, you get the same old job, over and over again. Decay is great for new people to architecture, as right now it is one of those scary professions your holocron may tell you. However the new content, such as experimented harvesters and player cities is what really keeps the job alive. New furniture down the road is good as is new housing types. Basically the game lives and dies on new content more than anything else, like decay. That doesn't mean decay isn't good, cause that allows new people into the field ratherbut does help incontinueing the game for the older players. Weaponsmiths burn out after while, no matter how much they make and how much business they recieve.
Overall I really enjoy architect. I can't wait for player cities. I am part of a PA so have it a bit easier than most.
What bugs me
1. Uncertainty on experimentation. What are they going to cap harv extraction at? When we get all 100 points of experimentation is the stuff we are making now going to be worthless?
2. Furniture A. Can't store items in things that should be used for storage, chest, armoire....B. Only torches give off light. C. No customization, so many people say I want that couch but in green. Give us 5 basic colors to choose from.
I enjoy crafting and am dying for cities. Can't wait to be in charge of laying out a city and helping people build and decorate cantinas. I have been able to be reasonably successful, 1million credits in the bank. I probably only sell 5 strucutures per week, but since I harvest all my own stuff my profit margins are nice.
1. Experimentation!
2. Just the proffession as a whole.
The bad:
1. Not being able to have my own house because I need every scrap of resources I can dig up. Even taking away 1 lot for a small naboo round really hurts, not to mention that I need a equipment factory (1 lot) and a structure factory (2!!!! lots...we really need that changed to 1 lot).
2. Lowballers selling for less than the market value of the resources.
3. Lack of ability of crafting classes to participate in the race for Jedi. (Not that I really care to be a jedi but it would be nice to have a chance).
4. Doom and gloom of merchant NPC changes comming...How much is it going to cost to have a decent supply of heavies on my vendor now? (it may not be a Arch issue but it has a HUGE effect on us because it's not like you can sell a heavy on the bazzar).
Morale lowering factors
- Being in the dark to changes is kinda disheartening.
- Expending a large amount of resources on something that may be obsolete or unbalancingtomorrow.
- Telling customers there is going to be a change but not knowing what that change will be.
- Reading that the change will be here 'tomorrow or the next day' only to find out that it needs testing and has no eta.
- Having to read through various posts to find out what is going on, then sorting out rumor and speculation from observed facts.
- !! Ore being the most crucial resource required but having to run the entire planet to find a buildable deposit over 50% (The 70% deposit cap on Ore)
