Thread: Sigh. Harvester Power consumption Doubled Again?

I posted this on ArchAngel's Harvester Issues thread, but thought I'd put it here so others casn double-check to see if their harvesters are using twice the power too.

I placed a few medium harvesters a little while ago. These are ber 7 and 8. The power rate stated when you do a 'status' is 50 units/hour.

I used a stopwatch to time it for 15 minutes, and refreshed the status screen. In that time, 25 power units were consumed.

Therefore, as of right now (11/22 1:12 PM Eastern Time) the power is actually being consumed at 100 units/hour -- or exactly DOUBLE what is displayed.

I timed the power usage on an oldHeavy Mineral Harvester using the same technique. The status screen states that power is supposed to be used at 75 units/hour. It is in factconsuming 150 units/hour.

Looks to me like they RE-INTRODUCED the 2X MULTIPLIER they had in place a few weeks ago. Seems they'veSTILL got that multiplier variable in there somewhere that was halving/doubling the numbers a few weeks ago, which the devs didn't believe at first. But now it's back again. I wish they would get thisvariable out of the code FOR GOOD!

If you do check this on your harvesters, remember (just like last time this happened a couple weeks ago), you will need to use your own clock/stopwatch to check the time and not depend on all the numbers from the status screen.

The harvesters that I have are BER 5 (yes, I'm new to medium harvesters, with no experimentation). It's double on those as well. This really sucks, because I can't keep up with the power consumption. It only happens when you redeed and replace the harvester. Before that power consumption is fine.

They need to fix this one ASAP. I can't generate enough power to keep up.

First, get off your mount.

Second, Turn off your harvester and then turn it back on.

Third, hit the refresh on Status window. The correct info should now be displayed.

I was noticing twice as much power being used as well. This was before I had a mount so that stupid theory is shot to hell. When you put around 6k power in and come back the next day and it only has 3k left..hmm using more then the 1800 it's suppose. Now it did look like when they reset the harvester costs that the power righted itself but I've not been on for a day so I'm not sure. Put in enough power to last until Monday morning. Better not be below 0.

There's a bug, but there are work arounds to the problem.

First to the nature of the problem. Its partly a display problem. The harvester is in fact using power at the normal rate, but the display shows it as using power at double the normal rate. Unfortunatly, you will lose the extra power for real if you redeed the harvester while it is showing 0 power.

If you take the time to look, you will notice that your harvester will still continue to harvest resources when it reaches 0 power due to the display problem. (if it actually runs out of power, it will stop)

To get the harvester to display the actual amount of power it has, turn the harvester off and back on. Then refresh/re-bring up the status screen. The actual amount of power in the harvester will then be displayed.

Make certain to turn the harvester on and off before you redeed as well, so that you can maintain whatever extra power you happened to have in it for next time.

First, place your BER 13 heavies and put 4 days maint and 4 days power in it.
Second come back the next day and see that there's 3 days 1 hour in maint and 2 days 30 mins in power.
Third, mounts have nothing to do with this one. I've been sampling to get my survey skill back up and as a result, haven't needed a mount to run the 200m between my harvesters.
Today my harvesters are all down to 2 days and a few hours in maint, but only 1 day 15 hours power AFTER I put another 1800 power in all of them to bring them back into line with the maint.

I'll give this a try Ashii, and see if it works for me. Thank you for the info.

Another note on this:

If you toss more power in your Harv that had zero power displayed, the resulting display will indicate that the harv was in the negative for power. Example. My heavy harvester had zero power in it, so I tossed in 8,000 units. The system reported I now had 3247 units in reserve.... That's quitea discrepancy. Once I turned the Harvester off, then back on again. I found out the Harv actually had power in it to begin with, and now had 11,387 units in reserve.

Again, simply operating the machinery's on and off switch will refresh the correct power... but redeeding with zerp power WILL lose whatever power was in it.

AND WHY WONT ANYONE FIX THE GREEN SQUARE!!!!!!!!

How annoying to have a layering artwork issue for three patches.....
