Thread: How much to charge for an extraction rate 9 medium mineral harvester
I ground through experimentation on the architect tree and am unclear on how much to charge for harvesters or solar generators. My best medium mineral harvester is extraction rate 10 but I have abunch of em that are 8 and 9. I would appreciate some advice on the amount I should charge for these. Thank you

if that helps
Prices vary a lot from server to server. Most old heavies at rate 7 sold around 100k. With that in mind how much should a higher rate and lower credit/power cost harvester be? Seems to me it is worth more than 100k.
Now I am not saying I charge that much, because people are still out there killing the REAL Professional Architect's market. But lets not get into that....
At 35k for a BER 10 (for example), the resource seller begins to earn a profit on a permanent structure after around 12 hours on a 3 cpr resource... and obviously a LOT quicker if they mine something valuable.
Gotta love being a miner
On chilastra I sell the 10s for 27k. That's plenty for a 3500 resource item.
I was selling 13/m harvs at 100k, but I might need to increase that because there is so little good steel now. Even so, I made more than fifty of them on one schematic, hmm 100k*50= alot.

Zam's absolutely right in that the new harvester experimentation/ratings have made previous pricing schemes totally redundant. I ask around 40k for 10-rated mediums and that price is based entirely on their earning capacity for the buyer.
It's notthe cheapest price, I'll grant you, but atm I cannot make them fast enough - and I'm competing in a traditionally tough architect market on my home planet (Tatooine, Radiant).
My first factory run of 40sold inside two days. My second factory run of a further 40 went on sale 15 hours ago - I have just 12 left.
People will pay a small premium for instant availability, or they can join a week-long waiting list for someone selling cheaper - until they realise they could haveearned 5 times what they "saved" by placing the machines on Day One instead of Day Seven.
While having the right materials now plays a pivotal role, what's far more important is the fact these new medium are more than 40 per cent more powerful than the old heavies - and also cheaper to run!
If players were happy to pay 120k+ for a 7-rated heavy a month or so ago, then a 10-rated medium for a third of that price is still the bargain of the century - relatively.
Zam also rightly points out that these machines pay for themselves within a day or two on a good spot. It's for this very same reason that I've always asked a little more for fusions over other heavy harvesters.
Quite simply, a good fusion spot generates a unit of power for less that 0.1 of a credit. Even ifthe ownersells in bulk at 1cr per, that's still a 1000% mark-up. Anyone buying a fusion can repay the purchase price of 100k+ in a few days - something thatreally ought to be borne in mind whenwe come to set prices.

Hi,
some Architects on Gorath agreed to the following proces for new stuff:
Med Minerals 4k/BER
Heavy Minerals 15k/BER
I am selling those med chem/gas etc. for 10k/BER
That way customers pay for the quality.
Hopper-sizes arent that important in sales, cause they rarely reach the limit of the hopper within a single ressource change.
Read ya.
I keep hearinglogic that says if youpay100k for a BER10 med harvy then that is fair. Justified with it pays for itself in X amount of hours, so its fair to charge that much.
This is non logic folks.
Thank goodness that real businessmen do not apply the same logic.
For example...Sears charges $200 for an average lawn mower, so if I cut 10 lawns in a day @ $20 per, it has paid for itself. Sears does not apply the wanna-be business man SWG greedy logic and say..."hey, we are crazy, our customers are so getting over on us, they buy one these and can pay for it in day. Man, we really need to start charging about $2000 for these."
I charge 10k for a BER5 Med ones left over from when I didn't have the experimentation points or the quality sources to make any better. And add 5k more for each additional +1 BER. And for an item that takes about 3500 units to make, that is quite fair.
I don't sell them with less than 7 BER.
15k, 20k, 30k, 45k for 7, 8, 9 and 10
We get the shaft for every other building we make, so I think it fair to make a little profit on these. Have no trouble at all selling every 10 BER I make so far. Make decent money, but not rolling in the dough. Too cheap and you work yourself to death, too expensive and you will build negative goodwill. I just kinda priced mine on the market on tarq.... opinions will be wide and varied.
