I feel we need classified ads in the game. I like the two sites I have stumbled upon external to the game, but I think it would be best for people to get a chance to advertise to those that are looking for products.

I understand it may cause a negative externality, but still would be useful.

I have spent last few days annoying other Architects and Players about products I am trying to sell or get rid of for XP. There should be no reason for this.

Plus, we get spammed all the time about imp/rebel disk and goods people are trying to sell.

These chat messages, many which are macros, are not necessary if you have a bulliten board attached to the Bazaar or completely seperate.

This is an initial thought, not something I have put extreme thought into, so please be free to be open minded and opinionated about this suggestion.

I do feel this addition would be useful, but if people think it isn't worth it or it may cause too negative of an effect, I will drop it.

While this sounds like a good idea I think it would change some fo the game environemnt that I like. As an example, I have advertising III as a merchant and that allows me to show up on the planetary map for all to see. By the name I have given my vendor it is clear what i have for sale.

If they added something like classifieds into the game I think it would need to be skill driven so that only certain folsk can place certain kinds of adds. Frankly, I would like Bbay to be expanded. Allow people to put in anythgin for any price on Bbay, but charge more for higher priced items.

I do think a WTB classifieds might be intresting.

I don't really like this idea too much at all. First of all, if you think undercutting is bad now, just wait until you can see everyone else's price clearly listed. There will be an arch price war like no other. If all of the players could see all of the prices all of the archs in theed were charging for all their products, then they'd always go with the lowest price. Which means that we'd never be able to sell a small house for over 3K. Do I hear medium house for 25K??

Seriously, this would cause SO MANY MORE problems. Plus, the idea of telemarketing does come in here in a way. Someone that was not really in the market for a medium house or was planning to put off buying a med mineral extractor until a day that he could dedicate to look for one might change their mind if they find out that someone has one on them for sale right now. If someone is in the market for a medium house and see's a classified up that one is selling for the right price 2000m away...but then someone comes up and offers the same price and is in town, who do you think that person will buy from? Seriously, a classified ad thing would not work, and I don't think this economy would handle it well at all.

Leave things the way they are. Not to offend, but if ya don't like all the announcements, don't stand in crowded parts of cities.

Let me just say something here. First of all, I'm not trying to come across asa **edit** or anything. I'm just trying to put the facts on the table. I spend at least 30 mins to an hour each night in front of the Spaceport in Theed yelling about what I'm selling. It has DRASTICALLY increased our business as of late. It REALLY works...and works VERY well. I'm SURE that it looks like a lot of us are taking it too far, and it might be annoying for some people. What you have to keep in mind is that the crowd in front of a starport changes like once a minute. Of course there are those few that like to stay by a starport and talk for an hour, and that's just fine...I have no problems with that. But, for those of us trying to sell our wares, yelling in front ofa starport every minute or so is just a great way to bring business. A lot of people just won't spend money if they aren't offered something to buy (gotta love those impulse purchases).

I've brought inA LOT ofcredits worth of business over the past few nights using this same yell method.

I do appologize to those who are getting annoyed with me. But, this is not something I plan to stop doing anytime soon.

There's a work around you can use in the bazaar that I've seen others do. They change the name of an item to be an ad. They don't usually list prices though, just contact information.

Undercutting is actually easier tostop if everyone can see the prices. The bazaar in EQ enables that, and it's not uncommon for suppliers to buy lower price suppliers out, thereby keeping the prices high. As a crafter, this annoyed me at times, but there was nothing stopping me from going out and getting the supplies myself.

I misrepresented myself by referencing the shouts and yells. I do the same thing now and like you said, it has helped me grow a little in business. I was merely adding the example be cause , yes, some get annoyed, but also because the chat window scrolls so rapidly when 7 or 8 people are advertising. I guess the reason I was concerned about teh chart aspect is because I like to read all chat messages posted, but around highly crowded area it is a pain to me,yet not annoying.

Like I said, I by far would never want to create a negative impact, but it might help the newbie's, especially with preventing undercutting.

Thank you for the intuitive input, I guess the main reason why I began this thought is because I have spent last few days pondering how I could get my name out without bothering all the Master Architects.

I literally sent en email declaring my services to all MastersI could find.

You have a great point. I can't agree more with that statement. Furniture isTHE BEST business an arch can have...from novice to master.

And to what was said above about the bazaar levelling prices. That does make sense, and that might not be a bad idea. See, I don't purposely try to undercut other archs. I just sell my wares for what I think is fair...I do it for fun simply because I love to craft. So, if I was willing to sell a small house for 9K, and some of the more well known archs were willing to buy them and resell them for 13K leveling the market, then so be it. That would be great. That way, not only does my item sell, but that money will amost cover a full day of maintenence on all my extractors and power supplies, and I'll get some profit too. If they were willing to do that, I'd be more than happy to see that classified's section up there.

One of the reasons I got into the arch business is that I remember the night I got my first house. It was a Small Naboo Style 1, and I was SO HAPPY ABOUT IT. At that time, I was a combat class, but I still spent the rest of that night, not fighting, but buying furniture. It was so much fun. The excitement actually doubled when I upgraded to my first Medium Naboo house (by this time I was an arch). HUGE area...plenty of room for all my resources, crafting stations, and tons of furniture (that I built this time). Plus the balcony to overlook the naboo countryside...just great!! One of the reasons I became an arch is so that other players in the game could have the same experience. Just knowing that a house that was built by me is standing somewhere on Naboo is a GREAT feeling...that is one of my drives of being an arch. So, it doesn't matter who sells it...or if I just end up being the manufacterer and someone else ends up distributing all my houses...either way, my houses...the ones I built...will be up on Naboo
