Thread: Chests/Containers to add Storage Capacity
Greetings,
How about making it possible for architects to create chests/containers that can hold 75 items and it adds to the buildings total and removes 1 lot from the player who placed it. With this friends who share a medium sized building can get together and dont have to use a small house for storage. Maybe even make the container personal to the player who placed it and she/he can grant others access to it. Add maintence costs as well if you feel that is needed.

Unfortunately, there's no way for this to happen right now. Have you all thought of getting another medium house? If you are using a two lot small house, then getting two mediums (which take the same amount of lots)would increase the amount of items that could be stored by another 75. One med and one small = 225 items stored. Two mediums = 300 items stored. Might be something to think about.

Ya know, scratch what I just said. I'm not thinkin clearly this morning. A two lot small house holds 150 items.

It doesnt now, but it could be something for the Devs to add in the future, instead of using another house as a storageroom you just add a container that costs one lot and gives you 75 items more to store in that container for resources and whatever you want to store.
It was an idea for the future.
I have a friend who is living on the limit all the time with all the resources he needs for his crafting and I am going to let him use a small house on my account as I dont need the lots as much as he does. But it would have been better if it could have been possible to add more storage capacity to built houses at the cost of higher maintence and lots with a "chest" of some kind, craftable by architects ofcourse.
I meant a container that add "75" storage capacity at the cost of 1 lot and maintence cost. (I use 75 as it seems to be the factor x lots used for houses today.)
Sure more storage capacity would be lovely, but this could also be a way for those who want to story many things but maybe dont need much more then a medium or small house, instead of having to get themselves a PA hall they add containers that removes lots and costs maintence.
You have a medium house and that gives you today 150 items, and instead of placing anoter small house next to your medium house you buy 2 containers that takes 1 lots each and costs maintence. Each of this container gives you 75 extra items to store in them. That will make them work under the same rules houses do today.
These containers does not exist today, so dont compare them with backpacks or such that we use today to not have a total mess in house. As they dont add any more storage capacity.

I am hoping they can figure out ways to improve database storage and remove crap that takes up space that isn't really needed and some day soon, they will return medium houses to storing more items like they used to.
God I hope so too.. Having a chest that stores things doesn't change the rules the backpacks play with already have to play by.. ie, it doesn't give us additional storage to our homes, it just lets us not make our homes look like a warehouse.
Why they haven't addressed this to us I'd love to hear.
