Ok, so I notice theres a resource on the planet that I really like... I run around willy-nilly surveying and surveying for it and find some in sub-par concentrations...

Does anyone have any tips on how to maximize the effectiveness of surveying, i.e. methods or practices that you employ when finding resource concentrations?

Thanks,

I set up a macro to "mount-survey".

Target your mount or vehicle. Macro goes /dismount; /pause 3; /survey; /mount. It helps if you slow to a stop first, and keep the survey tool open so you can see the concentration percentage numbers.

Basically just head to the highest numbers til they top out. If it is not as high as you'd like, pick a direction (away froman oceanor edge of world) and fly for 500m or so and try again, you can usually find a new vein and see what that one will top out at...

I usually survey on Rori, since very few people are there taking up the real estate. Also note that some resources (ore, wind) I've never seen spawn above 70% or so, and I have to settle for a 50-60% spot.

You don't have to target the vehicle in order to use a macro like this. Instead of typing /dismount /mount; use /dismount speederbike and /mount speederbike

This way will enable you to not have to target anything.

If you ride a speederbike. I think that riding a "speederbike swoop" is a problem with the naming on the command line.

I personally ride a speederbike swoop and this command line works fine.

Great! I thought I had tried this but I'll go modify my macro - thanks.

There are 3 types of Vehicles

1) Speederbike

2) Speederbike Swoop

3) X34 Landspeeder

The macro doesn't care if you have a Speederbike or a Speederbike swoop; however you need to change /mount speederbike to /mount x34 if you are using a landspeeder.

I take an easy approach to this. Search for a novice artisan who will be needing to do plenty of surveying and offer them money in return for waypoint of the material you need. I pay relative to the concentration. i use this loads and everyone seems happy with it. They get to earn more than they would by running survey missions and I save time by not having to survey.

Although I know the different server economies are different, can you share the type of range of fee you usually pay? I survey my own stuff and am good at it, but there are sometimes where I'd like to just say "hey, I need to get some of this new xxxx and I'm busy right now".
