A factory, when loaded with maintainence & power, will maufacture exact copy items items from a schematic created using a specific tool and crafing station. The Schematic will use the same materials as the prototype, but has the advantage af mass production, and of eliminating repeated experimentaion attempts. The raw resource materials loaded into the Input hopper must be the EXACT same raw resource materials as those used in the schematic. Once the schematic, and materials are loaded, power & maitainence paid, use the Start Manufacturing from the radial menu. Items made in the factory take 2.25 times as much time as manual crafting, but again, have the ease of working automayicly. Lastly, many higher end items require "exact" identical components, which means said components MUST be factory made.
I hope this helps.
