Thread: Ore Resource Concentrations

Us architects, by far have the highest utilization of resources.

Obviously you all know we need TONS of ore.

Over the past several months since July. I have seen the attempt to change harvesters and mess with the extraction rates to what appears to be manipulation of the resource percentage when surveying.

The highest concentration of ore that I have seen on my server (Tarquinas) is low 60's and that is considered "awesome." I can still find spots ofchemicals, and other metalsis high 80's and low 90's.

Is there anyway to escalate to the developers our need to increase this concentration. I have to wait days just to the extract the grind ore that I need for walls.

Anyone else have a similar opinion.

they 'say' thay ore is a different type of resource... that's why you can find it everywhere in small amounts.. unlike copper or aluminum, which can start and peak out in 500m then go 1000m without any of it,

I'd would love to switch it to a mineral type... I'd be all for it...

Personally, I find the whole wall process irritating. They should cut the amount of structure modules need to make a wall in half at the very least.

I also agree that ore concentrations suck.

the only good thing i see with this is, that ore is a good ressource to set up permanent harvesters you never move.

On Radiant there's the occassional 70% spot and that's nearly impossible to find. The 60%'s aren't much easier. Most of the spots I find without travelling all over the galaxy are between 40% and 50%. What is the deal with it being a different kind of resource and found more often? Are we supposed to be happy with a three 50% spots over 5km instead of one 80% spot in the same amount of space? I wouldn't be upset over an increase in percentages myself, but I do think there are more important issues for them to address....whenever they find the time, of course. I understand putting together those 2 chef's hats was really taxing so I wouldn't want them to blow a gasket over some of our piddling little issues.

The only real good reason I can see for making ore a wide spread, low concentration resource is to make it aviable for all.

Think about it, all architects will want to use ore, there are LOADS of harvesters harvesting ore. If the ore were to be a high peak, low spread resource, not many would get there harvesters on the ore. Instead, now, everyone gets a fair piece of ore and you dont have to go looking for ages just to find some place decent where it isn't totally mashed up with harvesters.

Just my two cents

Or you could argue the vicious circle theory.

Resource sellers won't mine and sell ore, primarily as the resource locales are rubbish when compared to other resources (so the cost per unit to mine it goes up dramatically), and more importantly, because us Architects refuse to pay more than 2.5cpu for orebecause it makes our harvestors and housesmore expensivewhich the resource sellers won't wear when they go tobut deeds. So we end up having to mine it ourselves so that we can keep selling harvestors to Resource sellers at a "reasonable" price. The vicious circle theory in all its glory.

I think as a whole, Architects sell our goods at a way too cheap price (those of you who are happy to get 4 to 5cpu on the total resources that have gone into your final product raise your hands) and have collectively shot ourselves in the foot right from the start. If we didnt sell so cheap, others would go out of their way to mine and sell us ore at a reasonable price.

But as the abbreviated saying goes "gate open, horse bolted, shutting gate now offers no solution".
