I just now trained Engineering 4 and would like to know why we need double the XP an Armorsmith needs to get Novice? I would also like to know what you guys crafted to get there and an estimated time. Thanks!

Once you get Eng 3, just make wind generators in practice mode. About 500 xp each. That is only about 65-70 of them to go from Eng4 to Novice Architect.

If your a master artisan (which will help you later) you make vehicles. If not, tools.

Tools take a lot more clicking than wind gens or small harvesters.

Vehicles are *horrible* to get xp with. Almost all crafting gives about 2 XP for every unit of resource used. An X34 gives 0.42 XP for every unit of resource (and the others are even worse). So the 33K of general crafting experience can be done with 19 X34s or with about 75 wind generators (practice mode). But with the X34 you would burn through over 80K of resources, and the wind generators take only 20K of resources.

Furthermore, there is a delay between getting Eng4 and getting to Master Artisan. I'm not against getting to Master Artisan (at all) - I am one. But if your goal is to get going on the Architect tree, I'd suggest going up the Engineering tree (only), hit Eng3, then crank out wind generators in practice mode to get to Novice Architect. I think what you'll find is that you will then have two types of crafting that you can do - structure crafting and general crafting. There is probably enough general crafting that you'll want to do that you can get the rest of artisan fleshed out while you are grinding Architect.

I did flora farms and mineral extractors, then sold them (but, this was before the max was 4..and you had to experiment to get there)
