Thread: Can't get past BER 12 on High Cap. Flora

I have had no problems reaching BER 13 on other harvesters with these same resources:

Heavy Harvesting Mechanism: BER 6

Steel: HR 976, SR 963, UT 937

Ore: HR 934, SR 947,UT 890

Even with an amazing success on experimenting the BER, I still got capped at 12. What am I doing wrong

You say "BER6" on the heavy harvesting mechanism, but how high did you experiment it? (e.g., did you stop when it hit "6" or keep going?)

What chemical are you using? If use something other than lube oil, you better make sure that it's SR/UT is higher than your metal/ore, otherwise you are watering down the mix.

Hmm....I think I might have stopped experimenting when I hit BER6 on the HHM. Is that reallythe problem? I thought once the item was made, and the rating set, that it wouldn't matter how you got there.

I'm not using oil....but I am using Class 2 liquid petro, which has no SR/HR/UT stats, just like oil.

Like Zen suggested, it definitely helps to get the mining component as high as possible. Just getting the BER rating maxed doesn't max out the quality of the component. Try to experiment it as high as possible and see if that does it.

It does have an affect on it, components should be maxed out when ever possible. I've done it both ways, mainly because in the early running I was just to lazy to see it through, and it cost me dearly when I couldn't hit BER 13's with some harvesters, and made it with no problem on others.

Max out your experimentation, it will make a difference.

Floras seem to be a bit touchy when it comes to the resources you use. I'd suggest trying it with a higher UT ore than what you are using (to me UT890 is very low to be expecting a BER13 Flora). I try and use a >UT950 ore most of the time, or at least a >UT925 if the other stat are around the +920's and regularly get BER13 Floras.

From my experience, there seems to be a huge leap in that extra 10 points on UT on the final results with Floras.

The equation for figuring out the "goodness" of architect materials is:

((2*UT)+HR+SR)/4

That's how you can see if one material is better than another.

The final "maximum possible" percentage is a weighted average of all of the resources (score * percentage of the 'mix' each one is).

One way to think about it is: if I used only *this* stuff, what would my maximum possible be? Your steel comes in at 953, and your ore 915, so taken individually you get 95% or 91%.

The weighted average of those is about 94% (1200 units of steel and 300 units of ore). So that ore isn't hurting you that badly at all. I'd put my money on a heavy harvesting unit that you only experimented to the low 80s.

With those stats on the resources I can only believe you are suffering from the quality of your HM. Your Final score is probably being reduced by a combination of the ore quality and the HM, fixing either one should do it, getting higher ore will not be easy, and as ZenDragon points out, the average quality is already pretty good, so with weighting and everything else you will have to find a pretty amazing ore to improve enough, so probably easier to make new HMs without stopping the experimentation. 94-97% should do it.

You can usually see if your resources are giving you a problem. When you do the final combine look at the percentage you start with on efficiency, if it is below 25% then you are using sub standard resources/components and will struggle to get to max BER. Also look at your final 'bar' when you start to experiment, if it is elongated slightly then you will be able to use the max possible experimentation points against it, if it is not then you are going to be able to use less and risk not getting that final BER point you need.

The only other possibility I can think of is you do not have enough experimentation points, you do not say if you are master, and I do not like to assume. If you have the full 10 experimentation points you should not be having a problem other than those stated previously.

with those raw matrials you should get the HHM to 97% easy then you can get BER 13 on the final combine at 79-84% and have 2 points to drop on the hopper

also use lube oil
