Thread: Severe Factory Bug Correspondent Take Note.

Recently I took an order for a pair of Krayt enhanced Laser Carbines. To make two of these weapons I need seven (7) identical Krayt tissues. One of the tissues is used in the schematic of the Power Handler (the item that holds the Krayt tissue) and the other six are to make the final product. Each Laser Carbine requires three handlers, and thus three tissues each. I had exactly the right amount of tissues.


Upon a successful build of the Krayt enhanced Power Handler component, I placed the remianing six tissues into the factory ingredient hopper, along with the required resources, and turned the factory on.


Each handler takes 160 seconds. Two minutes and 40 seconds later Id ran back to my shop, and stood chatting with the customer while the Handlers cooked. And then I recieved the "Factory has stopped making xxx component...0 items have been made" message.


Hmm, that doesnt sound right. I run back, and open the output hopper to check if its full, its sitting at 83/100 items, and then I check theingredient hopper tomake sureI have included all the right resources, when I find that theres only five tissues left inside the hopper and that an amount equal to that required to make the component have been used. If theres only five tissues left and resources have been used, wheres the freaking handler?


At this point I started to sweat, wth was I going to tell the customer? Obviously my factory is one of those not-quite-fully-experimented-hopper versions, that even though it displays an output hopper capable of 100/100 items, it obviously only holds 83/100.


I was shattered, Krayt tissues are not cheap, and now this guy isnt going to get what he ordered, and all Ive got is a lame I-read-it-on-the-forums-its-a-big reason why.


This seriously needs to be fixed, if a factory CANNOT make the item due to the receiving/output hopper being full, then is SHOULDNT use the materials/components.


As a side note I filed a ticket pretty much immediately, but didnt recieve a response for a few days, though Im sure you can guess what the reply was....we haveno way to track what is placed inside a factory, yadda yadda yadda, may the force* be with you.

I also noticed the same thing.


If you have all the components except one, or the thing is full, it will consume the resources/componets of 1 final product before pooping out.


While it may not be a big deal to lose a few units of metal or a couple sword cores or something, it IS a big deal to lose krayt tissue, or any other looted components.

This bothers me to know end. I'm constantly losing small chunks of resources because I run out of one of the resources, and it eats up another items worth of the others. I can't fathom losing a customers Krayt tissues.

Does experimenting on the hopper of a factory actually affect how much it can hold? I was under the impression that any factory holds 100 items, regardless of quality of material or amount of experimentation? Does anyone have an answer to this?


Sorry about you losing the Krayt tissue. That is a major bummer

Well this is totally speculation, but speculation based on experience. The factories that I make that are experimented to 3000+ storage (whatever the heck that means - gotta love undocumented voodoo science) never have this bug. The ones that I don't have the bug. Use 320+ Mall Steel and 800+ Mall Ore to make the factories.

Yes this bug sucks.


It does impact all crafting professions. So maybe you can get your correspondent to work together with ours?

My understanding of structures is that storage is the only "experimental" aspect that can be different when making a factory. If u experiment on the top two options, even if the experiment is a great sucess, the number in the green is still "0". I have seen what u are talking about and not really sure how this happens, but here is my best guess and shot at this subject. Did u have more than one factory? How many items where in that factory when u were working on this project? I believe it may have to do if u have more than one factory up when this occurs.

Ah, so that's what it is, a bug in the output hopper size. I have encountered this bug multiple times, but always thought I made a mistake with calculating the amount of resources needed and putting these into the ingredient hopper. In addition, I got a strange mail twice, with only one line, saying something like 'manf_error'... etc etc. followed by the standard mail that my factory has stopped creating items. I submitted this as a bug, but you probably never hear anything about the bugs you submitted...


So can anyone elaborate on the actual hopper size, cause I always believed you can store 100 items in it, independent of the experimented hopper size. The factories I sell have a hopper size of 3500+ , so I would like to tell my customers how much they can actually store inside these things.

83 isn't bad actually. I've seen some as bad as 60. This is really a problematic bug. The best way to get this bug up on the 'to fix' list is to put in a CSR ticket and have the customer do so. They won't replace the tissue most likely and can't do anything about the bug. But just keep resubmitting the ticket. Once they end up spending too much CSR time on this the suits will come in and say this needs to be fixed. About the only way this will happen, otherwise it is working better than most things and it will be ignored.

yeah this is one of our top five issues..


I hear if you redeed and then replace the factory it resets it to 100.. I just wonder what causes it to loose space.. One of my factories is down to about 42 spaces..
