I just bought one.. had a harverster before and never saw this option:

Assign droid

What does this do to benefit me? What kind of droid do I need? I'm making stims/buffs.

Or is this a new JTL thing that dosn't pertain to me?

Damn did factories get slowed down???

I made like 17 items in about 30 minutes...

Thought they were faster

droid engineers can make droids with a structure maintainance module that will pay maint. for you on you hars/houses/etc.
as far as i know, it is only for maint. and not power.
this is probably what it was refering to.

as to the changes in time, with the new publish, the devs have changed the factory times.

it was always based on the complexity of the object, and i recently found out that it is 8 seconds per lvl, so a comp. 10 would be 80 secs factory time.
i haven't looked at my items and done the math so i don't know that it is correct, but it sounds about right.

what they have done is changed it from based on the base complexity to based on the final complexity after all experimentation.
so now, you make xxx with a complexity of 15, use your 10 exp points 1 at at time and end up with a comp. of 25 and end up with a factory time of 200 instead of 120.
this may have been the way it was intended but they just now got around to fixing it.

i have also heard that they are changing the lot requirements for some structures, guild halls will only take 7 lots instead of 9, structure factories will only take 1 lot instead of 2, and 1 or 2 others as well, but i dont remember which ones.

Bug fixes. Heh! Smuggling. Heh! A Jedi craves not these things.

My SWG Observations

If they stopped the expansions for one year and gave quality revamps to the professions that need it most, many people would resubscribe.
With all the resubs, and the new players, there would then be plenty of money to hire enough people to do 2-4 quality revamps per year plus 1-2 larger expansions per year and/or 2-4 smaller expansions per year, and not give the BigWigs a pay cut. (Possibly even an increase)
