this i posted on the Rp'ers boards but i thought you guys might wanna take a look at it.
Roleplayers tend to decorate their houses and not use them for storage. What this does is acually punish the person for trying to have a nicely decorated house and not just use it as a place to drop there tons of loot and resources. this acually punishes the role players for trying to get more into there city/world by making them chose, do i go for looks or do i go for storage. Yea i realise that you can drop more houses, but this is not the point.. a small town for example may not want 10 extra houses just to store crap and add to urban sprall
I do how ever have a fix for this.
If all non useable items became taged. Like say that sofa, or potted plant, and what not.. have them count towards a seperate item count on a house. Say you have a small round, it has 75 items limit now. This includes all items, which in many cases is all resources and loot houses.Sure you can set up a vendor if you have the skills, but some dont want to exploite a system just to get a nicely decorated house.
If you instead added say a seperate item counter, for non useable. say 50 for small rounds, 75 for small gen, 100 for meds, 125 for large, pa's, cantina's and soo on.. This would allow people to acually decorate there houses and have them useable for storage if they soo chose. As it is now, decoration does nothing except add to the world you live in,, but in many many cases you walk into tons and tons of houses and there are nothing but back packs, and crap scattered. I realize that there is a data base issue, but at the same time.. isnt a cross server storage house trade a much bigger issue than adding the abitlity to let someone decorate there house?
Granted there would be a lot of tagging code added and maybe some stuff wouldnt count as non useable, and count towards the main,, I would think mission rewards may come to mind,, like hero's quest, or say a tie fighter pilot helm. But the depth of emersion into the game i think would rise alot, and ill bet even amoung the non Rp'ers just cause even they apreciate a nicly decorated place.
On more than one occasion i have heard someone say, man i would love to have a nice house,, but where would i store all my stuff? Oh i know the 1000's of cross server traded houses..
