Thread: Factory Crate Question

Can you use factory crate items in place of handmade items in recipies that call for similar components? Like with a Medium House you need like 6 wall modules that only need to be similar, not identical. Can use still use identical items from a factory crate. This may seems like a stupid question, but when I tried it, it didn't work for me and I'm not sure if it's because my factor crate was experiencing one of it's common bugs or if this just isn't possible.

Yes you can, however you will only get 10% experience for making those items in a factory.

So if you still need the experience i would suggest making those items yourself.

I know about the 10% xp thing for factory components, but if you use factory components in a final product that use made by hand would that reduce the xp you get for making that final product?

You cannot use the crate itself. You have to remove the items from the crate and then put them into the factory/click on them for the recipie. It sucks, but its true.

It seems silly to me that the crates even show up as an option in the recipie inventory, as they currently cannot be used that way.

My understanding is that this is something development wants to address in the future, but at the moment, you have to remove the items from the crate first.

Same thing happening to me, made a crate of 11 generator turbines, was able to take out 4, now its stuck on 7, and does the little flash to 6 and back thing.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Just logged out and back in, and was able to empty the crate by double ckicking on it.

Here is was I did to fix it:

1. Panic

2. Logout

3. Frantically Post a question on the board

4. Wait for answer

5. Get bored waiting and log back in

6. Find the crate working again

go to a merchant or bazaar, put the crate up for sale. then immediately withdraw item, take out of the merchant/bazaar, put back in inventory and you should be able to take more items out of the crate. It worked for me and stumbled on this trick by chance.

Good think I am a Novice Merchant also, I will give that a try.

As long as I have your attention, is it possible to make a style 2, floorplan 2 generic house (small)?

I know there are 2 corellian's of that style and one of them is supposed to be generic but can you make it?

Alternatively pass the crate to a friend who will be able to open it and pass the items back to you

I am fumbling my through using a factory for the first time. I have used a factory to make a factory crate of Generator Turbines. When I double-click on it or use the menu to remove an item, it looks like it takes out the item then puts it back. That is the inventory number goes from 4 to 3 then back to 4. They seem to be stuck.

Any suggestions before I tear my hair out?
