Thread: Minor assistance for a new architect
Now I have to remember what we can make at Novice Architect, hehe. One thing you need to know though is you're going to do better taking orders than you are making it and trying to sell it. Most servers, except brand new ones, are getting to a dead point. Our structures do not decay so there is no resell value on them. People do not have to buy harvesters once they have all they need. If you try to make a bunch of items and then sell them you WON'T more than likely. You'll see alot of this:
"Zane shouts "Selling medium chemical, flora and gas harvesters for 35k each! I have 2 of each left!"
JoeBlow tells you, "Hey do you have any mineral harvesters?!"
Here is what I recommend: Get your harvesters pumping out Carbonate Ore and Steel. The higher quality the better, it WILL mean less failures. You need more ore than steel so I would do 2-3 power sources (depending on the type), 5-6 ore and 2-3 steel.
Start cranking out structure modules (200 ore and 50 metal) for 500 experience.
Everytime you have ten structure modules, make a wall module to save room. Wall modules are used in nearly everything we make later so you won't be wasting money. They require 10 structure mod's plus 300 metal and 200 ore, so you'll get 1k experience for those.
If you really want to grind experience AND make money at the same time, get some high quality steel/copper with a big conductivity rating (950 or higher). I can make crafting stations up to 99% and they sell VERY quickly on the bazaar for 3k each. They only require 450 metal but you'll get about 900 experience each.
Hang on to the walls, drop them in your house or whatever, also make sure you save 10 or 20 structure modules because some of the lower level items require those (such as medium mineral harvesters and small houses)
It's not to hard to make stuff to order, just make sure you absolutely have enough supplies before accepting an order. I usually just keep a print out and calculator beside me. You will eventually need a factory to make identical parts. Our's is the only one that takes up 2 lots (instead of 1) so you'll find it hard to collect the amount of materials you need to make more than one thing every 2 or 3 days.
I eventually gave in an just bought another account for the lots. The only problem now is the market is dried up so much that I'm always down to the wire on making money to run the harvesters. I run my Fusion Generator for a few days until I can sell it for 100-120k. That gives me enough money to run my harvesters for enough to time to get resources to make 1 or 2 Fusion Generators.
One more thing before I end this long post. It's always better to just save up resources and make a big factory run to save parts on schematics. I will usually make 10-20 generator turbines at once, then make 6 or 8manufacturing mechanisms (which require those identical turbines)
My current harvester line up is:
1-2 Fusion Generators for power (1 is swapped out with heavy gas when needed)
6 Medium on Carbonate Ore
2 Medium on Copper
2 Medium on Aluminum (sometimes 3)
1 Heavy on Reactive Gas (I only run this every so often since the only thing that uses it is 200 reactive gas on the Generator Turbines and 75 Inert Gas on the small structure storage modules)
3-4 Medium on Steel (depends on quality/resources) I swap a medium chemical for fiberplast/polymer used in chemical slots or furniture.
2 for my Medium House to sell furniture
Then I leave 2 open at all times so that I can drop down the structure factory. I don't leave it down at all times, just when I'm doing runs to conserve power/maintenence. This is even better now that deeds keep their maintenence in them when you pick them up.
Sorry for the long post, you didn't just ask fora "little" advice, hehe.
Kirterian,
Not knocking the advice except it sounded like the poster doesnt have a PA to back them up at the moment and wanted to be able to make items they can sell right away in order to not have to keep running missions to maintain their harvesters.
My suggestion is to hang out at a high traffic area and create a macro to run every 1-2 minutes stating that you are selling crafting stations, equipment factories as well as either wall modules or miscellaneous structure items (fluidic drilling pumps and ore mining units etc) that are needed in the higher tier structures.
As a last resort I would find a PA that needed an architect (or a 2nd or 3rd in some cases) and start making all the basic structural modules for the factory runs. You may even find an independent architect who would let you do this for them and they would pay you with the additional materials to make more modules etc. I would stick with something higher than structural modules if you can though since they are only 500xp per
