Yeah I had the same question. I come back froma weeks vacation and a lot of people now have color signs on their homes. is this something that was given to merchants with the latest patch?

its a Hex code I dont have the email from in game , since I'm at work but I can show you what I have from memory
/#0000FFname Red
/#FF00FF Blue
/#0000FF another color don't remember ,but thats the jist of the code , you place them before your name
