Thread: Dumb Questions, No Doubt

I just started playing a little more than a week ago and I'm a slow learner, so be patient with these no doubt very dumb questions. My goal is to become an Architect, but I've just taken the baby step of attaining "Engineer," so I have a long ways to go and I'm a plodder. (I don't believe in AFK macros and don't use them, by the way.)

I am still having trouble finding information in game or on websites about lots of stuff. For example, I know that I'm approaching the point where droids can be useful to me, but I can't find a source on what kinds of droids there are, what sort of price to expect, what is involved in owning one, what kind is appropriate for me and similar info. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Like many of you, I'm an old EQ player (still have an active account, but I've been enjoying this game so much I haven't logged onto EQ except when servers here are down). As a tradeskiller and druid in EQ, I relied heavily on the EQDruids and EQTraders websites. Are there any fledgling sites around for this game that are similar to those?

I have other questions, but will start by asking for any general tips and some help finding online resources, which I can browse at work when it is slow (hooray).

Oh, I do have one specific question that is driving me nuts. My extractors and harvester (the baby ones) give a power usage rate and a maintenance rate, but I can't figure out what the unit is for the rate. That is, it costs 25 power units per what unit of time? Right now I have everything loaded up with credits and power units, but I'm sure being able to estimate what I need over a given period of time will get more critical as time goes on. For right now, I mostly sit in a camp by my resource harvesting equipment and admire it, checking it far too often (what is that about a watched pot?) and grinding my time away.

Sorry to interrupt the but complaints with my starting questions, which I'm sure you've all answered far too many times. Thanks in advance for any advice you can send my way.

Yup, deciding to become an architect is dumb. turn back while you can still have fun.

1) there are WAY to many architects already
2) all selling at 2credits per unit or less just so they can undercut the other for a no profit sale.
3) nobody is going to need a house or funiture soon because they will all have them all and they do not decay.
4) Urban planner will be for elite large guild master architects only.

Its dumb enough to stay an archiects let alone become one

Weaponsmiths are the #1 needed profession and they make 30-100 credits per unit of resource used and there isnt enough good ones.

Armorsmith is #2 and make about 20cpu.

My 2 cents
