It might be confusion because not all medium harvesters take the same amount of resources. You can buy mediummineral harvesters for 5-10k but medium floras are going for 40-60k. I was a little shocked myself when I was looking to buy 4 medium floras thinking they were about 10k each and the guy quoted me 60k each.

Be sure to tell himit's12K units of resources to make. 12,000! Ask him what's the most resources he's ever lost in a critical failure. I bet it's under 100 units.

Let him know you price is WAY below most Architects, but you're factoring in extra profit for critical failures. I'm sure you've failed on other large assemblies, so let him know about those too.

Let him know that floral/chem/gas use 3 wall units rather than 3 modules in effect 3 times the resources for this portion of the structure. Your price is the same as mine.

Err whoops thats 30 mods instead of 3 so 10 times the resources for that portion of the structure.

Quick question for everyone...

My friend and I have had a pretty good relationship in this game. He's a doc and I'm an arch, i build him structures for good cost, he heals me for free. We're friend IRL and we both took these seperate paths on purpose.

He now wants to buy an automated flora farm off me. They are around 12k resources. I quoted him a price of 20k credits, which I feel is more then fair. I would normaly charge 30-36k for such a product. He got very upset, saying my costs are well below that price (he's factoring that i pull resources at less then 1 credit per resource) and I'm gouging a doctor who makes very little money.

So i'm wondering...am I over charging him? I'd like to just give it to him, but with the number of orders I have right now and the immense costs involved in keeping those harvesters running i'm just breakign even right now and I can't afford to just give things away. What would you guys consider to be a fair price? And what do you charge normally?

Thanks.

I thought I was low. Your prices are lower than mine. At 20k I think that he is getting an excellent deal.

This is a deep philosophical question. What is the value of your friendship? Your price is too low to stay in business, but if you hurt your friends feelings, you'll feel better if youjust give it to him free.If you play this game for fun, the best pathis tobe generous to those who deserve it.

TheRoman philosopher Cicero says that friends must always endeavor to keep their interests compatible, for if they diverge, the friendship must wane. This is a case where you must weigh thecosts toyour own happinessof losing the friend, or losing 13k of resources.

Just point your friend to this thread. Speaking impartially, you're offering him a very good deal and probably not that far off selling the item at cost.

It's very easy to underestimate the cost of mining resources and unless you have aserious mining set-up, you're realistically going to have to buy in some of the stuff needed at significantly more than 1cr per unit.

You also need to factor in the cost of redeeding after resource shifts, the costs of making your harvesters in the first place, the cost of keeping them powered plus a final factor for your time and effort plus the risk you run of critical failures.

I sell medium floras at 45k and, in the current supply/demand market, regard that as a fair price for the time/hassle/risk. As mentioned elsewhere, if you sell for much less you might as well just thrown the raw resources on the bazaar.
