Thread: Resource shifts?

Hello all.

I have been hearing about resources shifts alot recently. I am trying to break into selling factories. I had over 20k in aluminum at one point but ended up trading or selling it away. Now Aluminium does not show up at all on Naboo(Corbantis) when I scan for minerals.

Do resources shift to new planets? Please Explain how the shift works. Without aluminium I will be stuck making those zero value small homes that you cant even give away.

I've been told this:

A field of X material is rated at 20%. The same X material in another field jumps to that zone. The survey now reads 40%.

The first field may jump away leaving it at 20%. A third field may show up and make it 60%.

It was explained that each field has a chance of moving every 5 days.

I was also told mining depletes a field.

I suppose I should shut up and let someone with more knowledge answer this but I can't help myself waiting for the server to reboot.

I don't think they have a handle on resource shifts yet. My theory about them shifting so much in the last few days is related to server issues and they are having to reinitialize the entire server. It seems that there are some underlying database issues. The truth is things are still broken and they are working to fix them. I have redeeded all of my harvesters, my house and my factory. I have decided to put architect on hold and play the delivery game.

I hate to jinx myself, but knock on wood, we haven't had any resource depletions on Naboo on the Radiant server. Guess we've just been lucky, or the Devs are running different algorithms on different servers.

From what the devs have said since the ending phase of beta, resources are depleted by mining, but they are also guaranteed to last a minimum period (5 days maybe?). During beta they just went on how much was mined, and the popular stuff kept running out in a matter of 2-3 days from overmining, so we got them to change it.

When a resource "moves" what it really does is runs out. Sometimes it gets replaced by a new type of similar resource, sometimes it doesn't. And yes, these new pools may be on a different planet. So right now on Naboo in Gorath there are three types of Carbonate ore, but only one type of aluminum. Last week there were like 3 types of aluminum and only one carbonate ore. We've had NO extrusive ore since launch, but last weekTatooine had plenty (they may still).

Radiant's lack of resource shifts is a bug. Should get fixed any day now...

What?! No way! A bug that helps one of us? Crazy talk... well if you have to experience shifting for the first time, all I can suggest is stockpile!

I was wondering if someone could explain how resource shifts work?

From what I can gather, it seems that every three days or so, the resources shift. Sometimes to other planets, or they just 'disappear.' I tend to think of it as the planets plates shifting and some of the resources get moved, or buried too far to be retrieved; while at the same time, new sources are pushed up in place of the ones that left.

That's about how I see/think of it.

I always heard the official time on shifts was 7-10 days... unless you live on Lowca in which case it's whenever the Devs get around to it and also when it's most convienent to screw the players out of thousands of credits and resources by jacking up the whole system.

Answer on most other servers: Some resources disappear every 7-10 days and are replaced by new ones.

Answer on Radiant: How do they work? That implies that they actually DO, lol.

Wow, on the other servers, are shifts actually occuring every 7-10 days? As you may know, Radient has enjoyed only 2 shifts sinces day one; guess we're averaging a shift every 32 days.
