Thread: Thats it I give up
Well im throwing the towel.. theres no money in being an Architect, im going weaponsmith... yes im sure theres some of you out there that have found some magic way of making it work but im trying to play a game NOT turn lead into gold.
Why? simple:
A: No one questions a Master WS about his/her prices - for an architect people laugh at your prices and expect to buy for less than 3cr a unit.. not to mention the hundred of second hand buildings being sold at 50% prices of original purchase..
B: Critical errors are costing me to much money.. hell sometimes theres no profit margin at all thanks to them.
C: The market is closing down.. weapons degrade people buy new ones.. buildings dont, increasingly im seeing less and less interest from people wanting structures.. hell even when they do they tell you "but I bought **insert structure name here** for a swoop helm and a bofa treat from bob".....
D: I can build all the structure ill ever need to be a Master Weaponsmith, safe in the knowledge ill never have to replace them, dump architect and make 25K a Laser Carbine.. sell 4 i got a 100K.. its getting to the stage on Eclipse that you'd have to make a large house or major harvestor to do that.. thats stuff from the top of the architect tree... i can go barely up the weaponsmith tree and be making that..
I have sympathy for the majority of you slaving away at a costly, low profit and unrewarding profession and I wish you luck... to those that have found the magic formula / made master when factories were still pumping out full XP.. well done

And in a month or two down the road, when Weaponsmith gets changed in someway to make it less profitable, and Architect gets turned around and becomes great, will you switch back?
Don't just follow the money man, Find a profession you ENOJOY and stick with it. I like the architect life, I enjoy what can be done with it, and I enjoy mostly how it is done, so I remain an architect, (although I have the cash to grind master Weaponsmith in a heartbeat)
Wsmiths currently make good money. And soon more and more weaponsmiths are going to be showing up because they grew tired of whatever else they where doing and decided to follow the money.
If WSmith seems like something your going to enjoy (and trust me when i say your not just gunne be slamming out 20k+ weapons off the start, because your not going to be able to experiement them to any worth) then i say make the change over, and have fun. If your doing it just because the money is there, your only wasteing your own time.
Actually I swear it seems weaponsmiths have a higher burn out rate then architects do. It is just not easy keeping up with everything. Now that is full time!
Anyway I sell my laser carbines for 18K on Eclipse. I suppose you're right though it could go for 20K-25K. Just got to be known.
hi... im a power grinder... so i know that you wont make that kind of money straight away.. ill just grind straight to master before making my presence felt... its been almost 3 months since the game came out.. theres plenty of WS and always will be... but guns degrade so theres always a market..
I dont enjoy architect anymore... the process itself is full of pain as hundreds sometimes thousands or resources disappear in an instant thanks to crits.. the customers are abusive and arguementative.. even when they arent they harass you as if you can turn out a Heavy Harvestor in an instant...
I watched WS I know very careful.. read thier boards.. they suffer none of this.. ive NEVER seen anyone argue the price with a WS.. negotiate yes.. but not just laugh in thier face and say some newd ass is selling the same thing for 50% less..
and THATS another big issue isnt it... a new DE / WS / AS makes lower quality goods than the masters... the stats are better.. which means if you want a good weapon/droid/armor you got to bite the bullet. pay the premium and go to a Master..
Doesnt happen with Architect... a medium house made by a newb or a master are identical as far as the buyer is concerned.. so they can go to some idiot newb sellling for 2cpu or less.. the master has nothing to offer thats different...
Three words for architects and tailors:
'Max redeeds' and 'DECAY' PLEASE LORD ....DECAY.
OK, I was JUST there. (Surrendered WS TODAY for Architect).
Unless you have the patience of a Zen master, then you will quit this too. I used junk materials, 50,000 of them to be exact. Grinded to Novice WS in 2 days, then Grinded countless barrels, D18's and other various craps to get a WHOPPING 2/3 of Intermediate skills.
Oh, I even tried making 100 items each of power-thingies, barrels, and scopes, made over 100 D-18's, and still got horribly slow exp. WS just plain sucks.
Tonight, in less then 4 hours, I got Novice Architect, and Installations I.
Just my 2 cents, but WS really sucks, unless you had some way of gaining exp (factories) at a MUCH higher rate (Pre-nerf Factories). At projected rate it'll take months to get master WS.
Before you all freak out about it's SUPPOSED to take months, I understand that, but Crafting an item that requires 3 sub-combines, to warrant a WHOLE 118exp is just not right.
