Thread: Lots are retarted
Just to make myself look like a forum troll and never again be taken seriously (joking), I just want to say that the WHOLE idea of "lots" is generically retarted. If you can pay the upkeep on 200 houses then good for you, dorkass. Same with extractors.
I already had like 50 ideas for why lots are good but ill stick with that lots are crap.
(we just need more of them)
Ugh. Could you imagine how crappy this game was, if even just a few of the exploiters started laying down hundreds and hundreds of harvesters?
No thanks. Lots are needed. As an architect we need more of 'em, but yeah, that restriction is needed.
Lots are one of the best ideas they have come up with yet.
It keeps PA's from having a total monolopy, it keeps the entier landscape from being industrialized, it keeps things on a more even keel.
As much as I woud like more lots, I understand from a whole game pespective why they are so importnat.
1. Lots are required. There has to be a hard cap on the number of available lots within a server.
2. You cannot sell or buy lots. This has too much create/delete exploit potential.
The problem is that there is a limit ... its that the limit is the same no matter if you are a beginner or a veteren, if your a ranger or an architect... In my long post that talks about major changes to architect and swg in general I proposed a variable lot system based on achievement. It also allows variation in how you obtain lots.

Lots are not the problem ... the simplistic nature of the lot system is.
It is evident that lots are rquired, but adding lots as you advance up the skill tree should be instated.
They should have +2 or +1 everytime you work up the installation tree.
This would only inflate lots by 4 or 8, giving the Architect room for few more harvetsors, yet at the same time continuing to limit power!
I know if I had 2 more harvestors I would be fine.

While more lots would be a nice thing, there is a need for the limit of 10. It helps keep urban blight down (which is already bad in some areas) and it helps on database load.
What I would like to see changed though is to make ALL player ownable structures only take 1 lot. If they have accounted for 10 lots per person in the database then itdosen't matter if someone has 10 harvesters or 10PA Halls, it's still 10 pieces of data.
This would also allow guild leaders to do something other than own a PA Hall, such as be a craftsman and own harvesters & factories.
