Thread: Top Issues

While I do agree that there are problems with area track, I DO NOT want a wp. Or a fancy "surveyors" window. I also don't get the part about not being able to track PCs/NPCs. If we can track critters we should be able to track peeps. Are you sure you are not a BH in disguise?
I was a BH, made it to 3/4/4/4 before i got so deleriously bored and panic strickenwith the profession that i wandered the outskirts of theed sucking down muon after muon, killing spiders, yelling obscenties at the snakes and cowering at the site of players that were trying to talk to me. "Are youmy mark? Why didyou suddenly appear? What do you want from me? Why areyou following me? HELP!!!! Somebody get this freak away from me!!!!!!!!"
So I quit bounty hunter and picked up ranger, mastered it, love it and am picking up swordsman to complement it. I love the melee professions in this game, I did Fencer and TKM, have a pikeman on Flurry but mostly play my swordsman/ranger on Intrepid.
My point about having a surveying approach to /areatrack was not so much that the idea is that appealing, but more to try and use some of the game dynamics that are in place already so that we can get a better system sooner. I hate the idea of waiting until after space expansion for anything good to hit our profession. Granted I'm not droppping master ranger any time soon, if at all, but I'd still like to be the hunter/tracker I expected to be when I signed up. And if it requires a hokey datapad that points out where the animals are, then I'll take it over the current system of only tracking the animals i passed 200m behind mewhile walking around.

We appear to be united in placing Harvesting rates at our number one dont we......, with traps working as they are supposed to comming a close second it would appear.
Niether of those two seem to be (i'm no expert though) to be too much trouble to fix immediatly. Neither are they going to adversly effect other professions, someone show me a good reason for this not to be implimented now, thats now, as in NOW by the way, not later..?
Devs...?
My thoughts exactly.
(this part is unrelated to theshagnasty's quote) It seems that a top 5 list is the preferred method for submitting things to the devs, but I have not had an official call for one yet. I expect, in the near future, to be making a top 5 list that I can submit. This was a precursor (hence "Top Issues" not "Top 5 Issues"). I think we have a good start for it.
That is my intention, BUT I think we need to keep the Outdoorsman Proposal as a Top 5 issue, possibly #1-4 are the quick fixes and the Outdoorsman and #5?....anyone agree/disagree?

I consider "pie-in-the-sky" stuff to be anything NOT able to do in just a few lines of code changes.

Everything above would be great to Rangers. What I think Calculus wants is a quick list to go to the Devs with and say "look. This is whatsof most importance to us now". With the list being small and EASILY added in within publish 7.
The more you add to the list, the more they'll want to wait until the profession revamp comes back around to Rangers.
Another BH has seen the light!!!

LOL, best advice I got when starting BH was to take up ranger so I could track my marks, funny thing was that I liked it so much more than BH that I found myself dropping the carbine and pistol columns to pickup ranger skills then realized, boy this is dumb, just go ranger and drop BH altogether.

/agree
but to be honest, if the Outdoorsman were to happen at all, what kind of ETA are we talking? Is it unreasonable to ask the Dev's is this is something that could happen over time just to keep our interest in the profession?
I asked the devs almost word for word what you said.
If I got the quick fixes for harvesting in pub 8 (or sooner as in Corellian Corvette) then I'd be content with the profession for another couple months, but after harvesting for an extra 50% or whatever we can squeeze, I'm going to be looking for more stuff out of this profession. At which time it would be nice for them to throw us a bone in publish9 like /track or more so that they keep my interests while I'm still very interested in the better harvest...
I imagine most, if not all, Rangers agree.

I like everything above (lazy, I know. But why repeat what's just been said
).
Lythender Nirou
Master Ranger/Master Rifleman
Eclipse Server
I Agree with most all the things one here. We as Ranger really do need something that will put us better in with PvP and/or GCW and/or BH etc etc. (Fighting)
Traps: Some kind of trap that works Good against PC's. I'm thinking a net like trap that can be throw or something evn better that only works at master lvl is a trap you set and leave. once they walk over it.... ( kind of like mine field)
Camo: (I feel very strongly for this) Master lvl Camo should almost never break from the Ranger. but should from any other person her or she places the conceal on. And here is some idea's i have had about making up more functional toward the entire galaxy:\
- At Night Conceal works better (The dark the more + X bonus to conceal you get) { which also works in city, if you go under a light that bonus drops...}
- It is raining you get Bonus to conceal as well. Also, as somone on here said, the rain hits you for fatigue. but if you are concealed it drops it a it (not much) ut a bit than some one with out it. Allowing us to move more freely while other are in the Camps (Only camps with cover over them makes sence to me to protect you from rain, but what do i know.LOL)
- Master lvl (all this works, some of i ma at lower lvl's i will let you guy talk that one out.)
- At Master lvl Conceal it Remove yor name so that other Rangers cant track you,and (for example): some one runs by your name doesnt appear to them. If they click on you and/or Target you, your name doesnt appear to them (Over your head or int he target ID bar).
- At Master Lvl it removes your dot from the Rador ( work in tangent with the above statement). Also if some one does manage to target you (even though they cants see your name) Your dot appears on the radar but your nme still stay hidded. ( this allows for ppl to do stuf for "People" and not be know for it. the only way they could is by what they look like and if the Ranger is smart he will wait for dark.)
This stuff alone i think would Dramaticly put a flux in our usefulness, No ? IT opens us up to more PvP, and everything else. Think about his a Sniper/Ranger..... IMy self am about to go Pistoleer along with my Master Ranger, if you conceal a whole squad of ppl that are with you and go prone.. you could have mutlipe targets heading to attack someone and they person NEVER even see it until the snipers in that group have taken position and the Mid ranger guys are ready and the Melee guys about 10m or less away. AT night.... Kind of Curl but they would change the balance of some battles.
THANKS
