Thread: They killed us....

Ok, as th eoriginal poster, I havea couple ofissues, at least, to get off my chest.

First: Fixed prices and agreement between architects. I have tried that. Me an my brother had one of the largest architect businesses on Chimaera, we sold our BER13s for 125k, and we sold, and still sell, plenty. I know some architects on my server has been down to 75k for a BER13, but they quickly went out of business. Now, the price varies from 100k to 145k, witch is a good trend, and people dont loose much money selling at tose prices. Most of the ones selling for 100k, use crappy resources for the assembly itself and max their storage on 110-117k. I, on the other hand, use good steel, iron and ore, to get as high storage as possible. And with my 12 pts suit and some carefull planning when I experiment, I usually hit the 127k storage on my BER13s. And the customers that use my service, know this and buys them from 125k. I, not the architect that sells most harvs, and I only stock BER13s, but still, Im doing fine. But only because i mine my own ore. If I had to buy ore, 2cpu+, I would be in trouble.

Second: Why don't we get any love? The Devs don't care, because we are few, we are not nessesary in the great PvP/PvE game of SWG, we are here just to make the galaxies look good. They had a good move with the new looted items, like radar screens and tech concole, but then they nerfed it, to add more items to the ridicules overpriced loot-market. I still sell my hides for 6k, but I raised the tech consoles to 50k, as I only have a few left from the factory runs, and they sell like candy in a kindergarden. But my point is that they nerfed us 3 times in a row now, and we got nothing new to play with, and they havent even looked at the top 5 issues. I am sure our correnspondent is working hard to be heard, but it seems to me that the dev-team is more into PvP and combatrelated professions, than to what really makes this game great. The atmosphere! When a new player, now equipped witha X31 (Something that nerfed my swoop-sales), swooshes over the Tatooine dunes and find player cities, fields of harvs set up in rows, all with names and numbers, and when they walk into a house and see lots of great furniture and art, they get a feeling that this is more than a game for counterstrikers and 12 year olds with a desire to grind jedi. They see that there is another part of the server population than these combat elites. 33% of the playersin SWG, play this game for the crafting and the "biz". And as one of them, I know that if they keep ruining our profession and othr crafting professions as well, I wont be around much longer.

Well, I am certain I have more issues, but before I hit Submit, I must say that this game has the greatest crafting and merchant system in the MMORPG on the market. SOE has done a great job, but they must remember to continue to work with it, and find new ways to enhance the experience for those players who love it so much. /hatoff to the devs that decided that they should put so much weight in the system when they made the game. Only a few requests: Don't forget us. And fix the darn OMUs!!!!

That is all. For now.

Shut up people and quit blaming SOE. The profession killed itself, you want to balme some one? Balme the original architects that decided they would do thier best to undercut everyone else. Blame the people that sold small houses for crack head prices. The profession has been on it's death bed for some time,as SOE's part on the matter they have given us an easy profession. 90% of out schematics do not require quality, so we can use the crapiest resources out there.
Our profession is what it is beacuse we cannot make the profit margines that other professions make. And don't hand me that crap about "Oh well we use crappy materials so we shouldn't have as high of profits"... and to that I say BS. Tailors have the same benifit as we do, they can use crappy material to make their and they make about 30-80 cpu for thier clothes.
So if you want to blame someone balme the undercutters, blame the people that set small house prices as 12k, and blame the people that don't want to try and make this profession better, they have insisted for the longest time that we're doing just fine. But the professions health was based on a very fine line, and this was disturbed by this patch. And since our profit margines were not higher it will cause alot of architects to quit. Shipwright has all but died off, but their profit margines were high enough that alot of the initial shipwrights like myself were able to make a high enough profit that by the time we had to drop the profession we had made a decent sum of cash.
In the few weeks I was a SW I made 4 times the money I have made in the 6 months this toon has been an architect.

12k small houses!!!!!!

I sell my houses for 12k, and i think that is pretty expensive.
On many of the low population servers, small houses go for 6k.

One possible solution that will never happen but would probably work is that all the architects agree to raise their prices. Then other people would be forced to buy stuff at a higher price. It would make us more valuable and profitable.

Unless the prices were greatly higher like 100% or something like that, this sort of change would be worthless, even if everyone agreed to it.

The problems with the profession are independent of the money that can be earned by the current products. The durability of all the products is the issue. As is, the need for the profession grows only with the expansion of current players and the influx of new players. Seems designed for the profession to falter.

How about adding a new limited life-time harvester which has a higher BER than heavies and cost a lot less resources to make (maybe removing some subcomponents). That would make everyone happy. Those who don't want to deal with decaying harvesters or have invested a lot in harvesters could continue to sue their current harvesters. Those who want a higher extraction rate could buy the limited life-time harvesters.
Those harvesters could loose condition relating to how much they have harvested for example. Condition should be experimentable as well.

This would be interesting if they reduced maxes for the spawn percentages overall. So that everything spawned in a lot smaller percentages. Course that would really piss off just about everyone.
