Thread: Resource Shifts

I have rarely seen the dreaded... you have harvested 1 unit of xxx because the creature was deathly freaking ill and about to die and its bones were brittle, it had no skin, and was wasting away, you did a service in ending it's miserable existance, thank you... or words to that effect.. message last for more than 24 hours, sometimes less.

I hunt mainly on Corellia, with side trips to about everywhere. It is a pain in the butt to go to Endor to get something, only to find out it's basically out of season. I generally wait 24 hours, go back after server reboot, and the harvest is back to normal for what I was looking for.

Minerals is another story. 85% at 6 am to 2% at 9 am, what is that noise?

Being a firm in MACPharma Labs (only on Bloodfin, Corellia ... don't remember exact location but is near Tyrena), my main duty is to do a "meat run" every week in order to find the best PE/OQ herbivore meat all over the galaxy and organize hunting squads to "forage" the medics in MACPharma Labs.

It is a pain in the ass, cause sometimes i need to do this for two consecutive days due to the "skinny bug", but i found this the only secure way to detect the best quality meat every week.

I use Swgcraft.com to track down results.

I encourage all of you doing the same. Being a ranger as some advantages, use them ...

Great idea, Subotax!

I started this thread and I must say, I am very proud of all your responses. It would be easy for the Devs to fix this situation. I hope they do!

1) shifts less often then once a week, or

2) a number telling us when the shift will take place!

These are great ideas! I really want to play the game, and I have been moderately successful as an architect.... but I think I speak for all of us when I say: "Devs: Please let us play more and baby-sit for harversters a little less!"

IHow do you know when a quality shift takes place? Is it just process of elimination (travelling hither and yon killing whatever you can to check the quality) or is there a way to find out? I use the previous method and it is sooooo tedious!!!!

There is no set pattern or times for resources to shift.

The easiest way (aka the way dullards like myself use) is to check your harvest now and then. Formation of a new stack means a shift happened. Also, while this was a bug, you may notice "skinny or sickly" animals dropping one unit of resource. Means a shift just happened.

Yeah, it's tedious, boring, and sometimes downright painful.

If anyone knows of a method to the devs madness, give a holler.

Resources generally only stick around 5 - 7 days.

What some of you seem to have happening however is that your catching a "newbile" resource while it's still in "shift mode".

How can you tell its in shift mode? Well you won't actually be able to sample the resource. You'll get a "resource density too low" even if your in a 90% spot of whatever it is. Only once the resource is sampleable can you reasonably depend on it to stick the normal 5 - 7 days.

In other cases I think its just game bugs. Resources shouldn't shift every 15 mins. From day 1 it's been 5 - 7 days. But I know some of you are right having seen this myself, I think it's mostly related to newbile resources.. that seems to be whereI get screwed by shifts.

When do resources shift? I know the resources themselves are random, but when do they become active? Normally I log in a couple of hours after the servers reboot and check my harvestors. But i have noticed on a few occasions that after i check my harvestors later on that same evening, the resource has shifted. Can resource shifts occur anytime of the day?

yes - they tend to occur a few hours or sometimes more after the server comes up.

Yep, no real set times. I've seen 2 batches shift in a day, one in the morning, one in the evening. The rule of thumb is that resources will usually shift 10-15 minutes after you last check your harvestors.

Hi all,

I'm new to the game and am well on my way to being a master scout with the intention of being a ranger I've been busy harvesting away and even done a bit of fishing and I've noticed that the hunting seems to be quite good at the moment on Talus. I try not to sell anything on the bazaar until I have at least 500 units but the fishing is taking so long I'm worried that the meat will shift on me in the middle of my fishing.

To come to the point.....How often do the organic resources shift and do we get any warning before it shifts?

Oh 1 more question...

At my little fishing spot I only seem to catch fish of size 2. Does the size of the fish differ at different spots or is it random?

I found me a great spot to fish on Tavin IV the other day. Shallow all around the area, and very few critters. Foraged up a ton of stuff while I was there, and caught a lot of fish.

But I've never once found that the size of the fish was constant, and I've never checked to see if it depends on the area. I could catch a size .15 blowfish one moment and a size .86 laa the next moment.

If you're only getting size .2 fish in that area then yeah, you should move on. (Are you talking about size of the fish, or the amount of fish meat you get?)

I was talking about the bit that says 2/5 etc when you examine the fish. Is that the amount of fish meat?
