I dislike getting undercut as much as the next guy, but:

1) A pet peeve of mine: If you are selling to your PA at a discount, then you are undercutting me, even if your regular prices are the same as mine, so it is a bit hypocritical of you to criticize others for undercutting.

2) I'm a solo Architect with Pistol 2 as my highest combat ability. It is certainly possible to be one. I don't see what makes Architect different from any other crafting profession in that regard.

We are a class that has a large gravity well of resources and time and money spent sucking these items up, then I get laughed on kauri for selling anything above 2cr/r when the bazaar and private resource vendors are selling for 3cr/r.. So its more expensive if you send a person to buy you the materials than buying the actual product?

Architects are not a disposable class of items that help your character. If an item does not help your character evolve then it is underrated and undersold.

Even with player cities I won't be an arch forever, it gets no respect because it contributes only structures.

Limited deeds of importance, that are organic and spawn. We need competitive advantages beyond just measily experimentation. (RIS Armor exa)

We need furniture that is beyond what we have and the game is loaded with it.

I still want lights to light and items to stick on tables and storage to store.. Without these things we have no immersion or sellable items besides some simple generics.

Ask yourself, what does Architect give to the game? And, How immersive do the produts an arch makes make you feel?

Ask them what they are doing about their database issues.. I still feel that is why most classes in the arch/merchant line are getting a sour end atm.

I really do not have many complaints, mostly just things I would like to see added.

What I do complain about:

  • My critical failure rate has not improved from Novice to Master.

I still get as many critical failures, almost always two right in a row. There are some days where my crit. failure rate is so bad that I just quit playing. Having 3 crit. failures on heavy harvesters in less than an hour is very frustrating.

I am very happy with the profession in general.

I like being a Master Architect!

Cons:

- Factories won't take structure models from crates

- Have to have merchant points because artisan vendors are bugged (expensive)

- Living in a medium house to free up lots for harvesters

- Medium houses hold too few items (150) & need lots of space for resources & prebuilt components

- Complaints that prices are too high or that can buy from someone else at a cost less than it can be made

- Business is so good at times that I cannot enjoy other aspects of the game

- Some of the badge quests are difficult for this class

- Maybe having to give Architect up to open FS slot

Pros:

- Helping people get into a new house or get the right harvester for their needs

- Helping new architects with questions

- Helping people with harvester & placement questions

My morale is good... I like being an architect and if I ever see a holocron... I hope that I do not have to give it up to be a Jedi which is the only other profession I want more than an architect!

Yes the sig says tailor, but I have a second account that is a novice architect.

I have to ask the obvious question ( coming from tailoring..) why can't architects change color on furniture? Why on earth must a sofa chair always be blue, or a couch be yellow?

Big gripe: crit failures on house/factory assembly...ugh. That's just wrong.

The slowness with which they are fixing the structure assembly and experimentation to 100. Such an easy fix and they just refuse to elevate it and spend the 30-60 min fixing it and pushing it to live. That combined with the lack of good placement in housing, not very diverse furniture, and no way of truly participating in the GCW makes the profession start to lose its luster.

Low and almost at the point of quitting the stream (if not the game itself).

My reasons (in no particular order as all are just as irritating).

(i) Sick of being undercut by folks racing to get MA "cause the holocron told me too". I hate going to the large cities (such as Coronet) and seeing players running around shouting "Small Corellian House for sale - 3.5k" and seeing the bazaars full of small houses - even generics!! for stupid prices. I even saw one for 2.5k on a bazaar - needless to say it didn't last long at that price but it was quickly followed up by more .

(ii) Fed up with having to accept a loss on everything I make because either the resource concentrations are so low that I have to buy resources, or the resources that are available are rubbish- and having to sell at loss making prices because if I didnt, I'd have no money coming in at all !!!

(iii) Sick and tired of every man and his dog now running around with base 6 & 7 mediums and base 9 & 10 extractors and flooding the market with huge amounts of resources (but ore still sells at 4Cr per unit !!!!) making it impossible for anyone to make a credit.

(iv) Hated having to grind my way through all the levels and get a pittance in return (whoo hoo, I made Furniture 4, now I can make a stupid non-working data terminal that no one will buy ).

(v) Dread seeing the words "Critical Failure" appear when I'm building anything larger than a chair - oops, there goes Cr40k of materials and there goes the customer to another architect

(vi) Not being able to participate in either the Acts or the GCW because all my points have gone into mastering two trees so that I can make stuff no one wants because they already have it, and into Merchant so that I can sell my stuff in the first place!!!!!

(vii) Not quite the right forum - but having stuff disappear from the vendors stockroom cause I was off planet surveying, getting no notification that the sale was incomplete and having the stuff "auto delete" after 24 hours - lost mucho resources and finished goods with that little bug .

(viii) Having to explain to people (for the 1000th time) that NO, we cant change the colours on anything we make, that NO, you need a two story house to put things onto walls, that YES, even though the medium house is bigger in the picture, it is for all intents the same as a small house - but please spend the extra 40k it costs to make it cause you get bigger rooms in which to drop things on the floor!!!!

(ix) The constant struggle with making sure I don't go over the house limit with items / components and resources - whilst making sure I have enough free slots to keep the harvestors going so that I can get resources in to make stuff to sell for money to keep my harvestors going, etc, etc, etc. What fun is there in having a medium house full of backpacks and a single crafting station??? If I could sell the house I would (see point 8 above).

(viii) Now not having the money or the resources to do anything except nerf my character completely, move to another server and forget I even decided to do Architect - or be forced to join a PA

So why continue? because of the faint hope that the months I have put into this character will eventually pay off. I know its funny but I honestly believe that it will.........at least I hope it will......please tell me its not all for nothing.....please????

1. Sitting next to my stupid factory which cant pull structure modules out of factory crates so I have to do it for it. And I thought factories were supposed to make our lives easier?

2. Having the previous items customer service ticket along with the other 5 issues I have due to bugs with harvesters and factories deleted 10 times in a row with no response from the CSR's. If I lose items due to bugs with their game software I expect reimbursement. This is not happening as of now. So I am basically losing time and credits playing their game which is bugged and yet they somehow have time to fix other classes while ignoring my problems.

3. Knowing that the 25,000 resources that I just used to build a finished item won't sell for more than 75,000 credits yet our armorsmith and weaponsmith counterparts can sell their finished items for 250,000 to 1,000,000 credits for the same cost in resources. In addition the items they sold are NEEDED and accepted with the knowledge that they will degrade to uselessness within a month of constant use (even with repair kits, which can also be sold for a premium) YET architects have no continueing degredation of any one item that we sell and still have nothing to look forward to selling once the market has been saturated.

4. Looking for any love whatsoever in the update notes only to find that once again the WORD architect appears not once in page after page after page after page after PAGE!!!! of update notes. Yet armorsmiths and weaponsmiths each are getting close to a dozen fixes per major patch.

5. Wondering when in the world we will get the ability to change the color on any one item? Droid engineers can make different colored droids (patch), armorsmiths can color their armor, tailors can of course do all kinds of neat things with the clothes they make. So when can we tell the customers we can make different color couches etc.???

6. Waiting for the devs to take our complaints seriously and not give us the typical lip service you would give a child who is crying for some love because their parents are ignoring them.

In a nutshell. I have to flag a vote for morale being BAD from this Master Architect.

Reasons for bad morale:

1. Critical Failures. Most loss, for the lowest possible return. At least allow the subcomponents to be salvagable. Lets not forget the lowered Assembly points available also.

2. Lack of customization. You mean a building cant be painted? Or a different color fabric to be used on a sofa? Why oh why should EVERY piece of furniture or building I make look EXACTLY like my competitions?

3. Lack of repeat business. The lack of decay on our buildings puts a finite amount of sales potential in the market.

4.No viable sales tools. The bazzare is worthless for 95% of all our items, meaning we must take skills to augment this. Also, with NPC costs on the rise... our items will be forced to personal sales only.

5. Resource shifts. These occur way too often. We need more time to collect adequate resources from shift to shift before we must spend thousands on moving the operation.

6. Number of Lots needed to operate. 2 lots for a Structures factory hurts. As with the fact that architects can never really hope to have a big house, since we need so many harvesters/storage rooms/factories to operate independantly.

What I like about Architect: (No, It's not ALL bad)

1. Buildingthings that populate the countryside.

2. Aspirations of creating a city.

I have wanted to do this profession since the day I first read about SWG and I saw that it would be a class. I would just like to have more use after-the-sale.

1. Crit Failing on the first factory I ever made

That was really painful, and was about 2+ months ago, just crit failed on a pa hall, doesn't hurt to much now since I have like 3 million resources stockpiled, but i'd feel a lot better on crit fails, especially the new people if it was only on the resources, not the components

2. Lack of business=no decay

Sure 2+ months ago I could make many houses, lots in the way of harvestors and heavy harvestors, but now everyone has one. Very small market now for houses and a quickly dimishing market for harvestors/pa halls. Urban planner structures is only a temporary stopgap measure. I didn't mine until i became master, i bought all my goods, and lost a lot of money leveling.

3. Good - Experimentation

I love it, gives master a dignifiable reason to charge more then novices, and gives meaning to entire branch of tree.

4. point (credits go like this) Fighters - crafters - miners - (?decay?)

Tell SOE thanks for the experimentation as a partial fix to architecture.
