Thread: Does everyone here realize harvesters will change back?
Heh, lining the architects pockets, I think that's hilarious...
If the people that are complaining about this actually USE the harvesters we sell, they really ought to know that there's no so-called "pocket lining" going on. You should know all too well how much it costs to run harvesters (as well as the time required to chase all over creation maintaining them), though perhaps it hasn't occurred to you how many resources are required to actually BUILD these things.
As long as we get the lowest margin of profit, based on the cost to obtain resources vs. the selling price we can get for the products we make, I'll continue to laugh in the face of anyone who claims we're "lining our pockets." The people who use our products, productsthat we're lucky to charge 4 credits per resource to sell without people whining and complaining that it's too much, in many cases are resource sellers who often sell their resources at higher profit margins than we get making the products they use to sell them.
And WE'RE lining OUR pockets? Sheesh...
I know this argument has been done over and over. Guess it just struck me wrong to see it today, I'll tryto just let this pass by next time.

I think a good compromise is...
Extraction experimentation should stay in, ifharvester decay is also introduced.

Not messing with you here. But you dont reallly know what your talking about for the harvs. I will never have the problem with scrapping harvs that you are talking about. Atually make one, and then think about it.

i have made plenty of them, i cant make enough of them due to never having enough resources lol. consider yourself what happens if u have to scrap a harvester deed just because u didnt get the good extraction rate or hopper size, it will be worthless on the market = destroy = loads of resources gone for nothing.
yes for each "good" 1 that u make, u can sell for a bigger price, but your just spinning your wheels cuz those extra profits will go to buying even more resources to replace all the deeds u ended up "scrapping"
but then again, so many architects have sat back and not built anything and have built up mounds and mounds of resources and so arent worried bout this. but i am more concerned with the small guy out there trying to make it on his own or with very limited support, which ofc noone cares about.
*shrugs*
to each your own

Oh I see it very well. Since I have 40 heavies all at the base rate, I sure as hell will not buy any harvestor that is not top of the line, so you can make all the harvestors you want, if they don't meet my specs, go to hell. The thought that making my harverstors, that I paid good money for, will extract at the lowest rate is utterly unacceptable to me. Not only are you people expecting me to replace them, at my expense, which I might add DOES line your pocket with my money, but also make the harvestors I have absolutely worthless for sale when they are the lowest quality. So low in quality that most mediums outpace them. And people actually wonder why I'm madder then hell?? This is the absolute worse change to put into effect as it absolutely screws the users who are already supplying you all your materials while only benefitting the architechs. I'm personally of the "Screw the **edit** Architechs!!" opinion on this one. NERF the **edit** out of ya I say.

Sigh... Anyone with 40 heavys running almost certainly has way more money than a very successful architect. Good lord how greedy are you? God forbid there might be an architect not on welfare while you most likely gouge the hell out of the resource market. But seriously... I actually agree that this is goofed. As an architect I'm loving being able to experiment on my structures and not just mindlessly buy ANY resource and mindlessly click. However, there is something just wrong about making a medium harvester with the same extraction rate as a heavy. On the other hand experimenting hopper size is not worth the trouble and hardly fun. The word pointless comes to mind. So what to do?
I would like to see them keep some form of extraction rate experimentation. Keep the base rates where they are (heck even lower them by one on new deeds) and maybe cap mediums at5 (or 6 but I prefer 5 for the meds) and cap heavys at 9 (maybe 10). I TOTALLY agree that it is DEAD wrong for you to have paid (whatever stupidly low price you probably paid) for a heavy harvester that extracts no more than one of these new improved mediums. Its dumb and wrong. However, if they made it so no med could ever out harvest a heavy you are not getting hosed. You paid X amt of cr for a harvester you knew would extract at 7. Chances are very good a harvester extracting at 9 will cost more. You did not pay that MORE amt so are in no way entitled to the 9 extraction rate. You ARE however entitled to a harvester that extracts more than a medium.
If you are a resource dealer, you'll actually benefit because you'll add the boutique architects looking to buy GOOD resources to your customer base. I do mainly furniture and buy many resources for my deed vendor. My max price for buying resources will go up if I have a reason to buy anything but the cheapest resources. Raising hopper storage buy 1k will not be an incentive for me to pay more for resources.
well,
i really dont get it why all complain about this /sigh
ppl are not very well in their head it seems, especially the whining miners lol
you guys get most margin in long run and way easier then an architect, sure u have to pay first alot for getting harvesters, but they stay forever!!! no decay on redeed or such, so u buy onvce and till u forget to maintain them they stay 1 millon month for you, while the architect sold it ONCE only to you and got average lower cash per used resource then u get for pure resource sellings. but add to us architects, the fail risks and all that. all miners whine about getting to less cash are jerks really, u got easiest job with lowest investment. no skills needed and no fail rates. so beter be quiet.
to the actual changes, i like them and it for sure should stay, even if u examine the shematics it tells you extraction rate values and which resource stats u need for that experimentation, so i would assume its not a programming fault and should be intended to work.
also deeds show now when u examine them rate, hopper size and how mch maintain and power is still in it.
is that for you all an indication for an unwanted bug? no its intended and for sure should stay.
what many dont get is that sure wouold be price raising for betterones then lower ones, so its worth something at least.
i surely agree that mediums with 7 comparefd to heaves with 10 rates are a bit out of line and heavies shouild offer an experimental max of 14 then prolly to make them worth making.
and anyways still PAs like before will always produce anyways more and cheaper.
get it right fellow architects, our profession is working at lowest win compared to all other professions and we sell 1 time goods, but i like this change and it should be in for sure.
what is bad is that old harvesers got borked, but that will get changed i hope.
but all in all its sad that you never know what a Dev has in mind when implementing and changing and repeat. makes no sense really. we should get better informations about such and they only should implement such major influences in the game when its fully tested and thought over.
also a Dev note in this forum about this changes would have been nice, so we know wat to expect and what is intended and what not.
we all just make wild guesses and thats somehow not right.

People regularly think that I have more money than I can spend. But I sell my wares at one of the lowest costs on the server and deal in mostly power. I have some, but think about the fact that my 20 fushions alone at even 100k each is 2 million credits. With no return on my current harvestors I might add. That means that the 2 million I just spent (which was less than 2 weeks ago) would be a totaly wash for me, or 4 million for the 20 new ones averaging at 200k each. While I could make up the money, the ultimate cost will run back to the buyers, which is architechs and miners. Overall, they just need to go back to having the resource % dictate extraction rates.
If you pay 100k for a non experimented fusion generator and place it on a 50 percent conc of radioactive, then sell the output at only 1 cr/unit, the generator will pay for itself in less than 2 weeks. If you sell the output for 1.5cr/unit the generator pays for itself in 8 days. After those points everything you pull out of the ground each day (minus 1440cr) is profit. There is no way for you to lose a single credit after the "paid for itself" point. You got what you paid for. You will continue to profit from those structures at even the lowest selling prices. If you destroyed every one of the fusion deeds and bought 20 new ones (with say a 19 rate)at 200k each, and placed those on the 50 percent conc THOSE would still pay for themselves in two weeks selling at 1cr/unit.
Ironically the only people who can really lose anything in this are architects with a bunch of old deeds laying around. But even then the architect could re-coup those losses easily with a little creativity.

Why cause that is the game you are good at?
Embrace change, see it for what it is, finally new architect content. Sure i bought some extractors right before the patch that are just 7's. So what, they are just as good as before but now I can get better. I can also get fwg5 with 10 more damage and better launcher pistols too.
It is not like your stuff sucks, it is just not as good as it could be. No net loss for anyone, net gain for everyone, including the refurb of entire servers worth of extractors for architects, and new opportunities for architects with high experimentaion and high UT metal and ore.
Oh and as far as your business, you talk like your extractors were destroyed. Give me a break, they still do 13/min, just not the max 17/min. There is not reason at all for you to upgrade if you do not want, or to do it all at once.
You lost nothing with the patch and everyone has gained.
